I feel like pointed, leading questions like this are really unhelpful. The phrasing seems to suggest that he shouldn’t be happy with his situation.
No college basketball reporter in 2024 is doing their job if they aren't inquiring about the transfer portal potential of everyone on the team they cover.

The sport is where it is.

This was a fun ride. Many times I was skeptical of this team and coach, and yet they proved me wrong and continued to win my heart. Just so happened they ran into a buzzsaw named UConn. Still didn't diminish what was accomplished overall.

I am eager to see what the future brings with BU and staff. Should be a few more fun rides in store for us. Congrats to a great season.

I've certainly had my criticisms of underwood but this has to rank as one of the best coaching performances in my nearly 50 years of watching the Illini.

It would make a fun thread to gather opinions.
We reached our potential in the face of some pretty unprecedented adversity. Not sure we could have asked any more from BU. I'm happy he's at the helm.

On a related note, I thought this was a pivotal year for Brad. (Aren't they all?)

Beyond the "Sweet 16 or bust" stuff, I think an objective observer could have had questions about the direction of the program. Was 2021 a one hit wonder? What happened to the culture? Is Brad happy here? If this season had gone the way of last season, I think things would be getting a little dicey around here.

Instead, this season was a huge statement by Brad. The program is healthy and Brad has proven he can win multiple different ways and you can't even question his ability to build a roster. And oh by the way, he made it to the second weekend and then some.

One thing I really appreciate about BU is he doesn't shy away from championship expectations. He's said publicly that his goal is to win a national championship here. And I think he actual believes he can and expects to do it. It's a silly thing, but that type of confidence and belief in yourself has a way of manifesting good things. I never got the impression that his predecessors had that kind of confidence in themselves or in the program.

We're truly in the midst of a golden age of Illinois basketball.

I didn’t say the topic should be off limits. I just don’t like leading questions.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for once again going on the ride of glory & heartbreak during another unforgettable Illini Basketball season here at this humble site.

This is an entertaining and informative forum. Thanks to you (and others) for your efforts in making this a welcoming and sane place to visit and share. There is a lot of negative and toxic stuff on the web... and a lot of things that just waste one's time. But time here is well-spent and there is a sense of shared brother-and-sisterhood that comes through even when opinions may differ.

Sports is an emotional thing and opinions can run hot. But that doesn't mean we can't respect each other even when we differ.

There's one thing we never differ on: Go Illini! And let's win that Natty soon...

Asking that question, at that time and place, is wildly unlikely to reveal any meaningful information. Was Harris going to announce his transfer while everyone is changing in the locker room 30 minutes after the season ended? Just pointless really.

Out of curiosity, how much do you actually lurk around here and follow our craziness? Do you get to enjoy what you've created or is it sort of like Tony Montana rules where you should never use your own product?
It's challenging to follow every single discussion here as this is a powerful community, so many here with seemingly never-ending posting energy(y) 😁 But I try to follow everything during a MBB or football game day. Remains a stimulating challenge to run the site & try to keep up with all the storylines.

Any chance you'd be willing to do a little background post or story about how all this got started for you? I remember the beginnings of Loyalty. Did you think it would still be going and this active when you started it?

I think you must have a great story to tell here and the public demands to know 😉. Hopefully something to consider.
Long story short- Site started as a fun personal project & once the message board opened up, people came in & registered and enjoyed hanging out here season after season. And now here we are. Go Illini! 🔸🔹

I’ve loved this team so much and all of its different pieces/characters. I feel (I’m sure) just a small percentage of the pain and sadness that the team feels about the end of a great season and going back to our/their regular lives.

This team gelled in such an amazing way and it was so fun to watch in real time real friendships and the brotherhood, as they call it. The feeling they (and we) feel right now is night and day different from last year. That’s how you know we’re on the right track.

We’re in a good place as a program. That’s for sure. 🔶🔷🔶🔷 Go Illini.

Your "long story short" just adds to the mystery of the man behind the board. Bravo. Thanks for providing a place for fans to gather.

The NIL Store came out with a Every Chair Guys tee 😆

I’m going to miss those goofy press conference hijinks that Coleman started.
Too bad they didn't say something about being respectful. Awesome anyway.

It's not always easy being an Illini fan, however following the journey of the '24 Illini MBB squad here with everyone was imho a lot of freakin' fun.

Thanks again & Go Illini! 🧡💙
Dan, you the man!

this forum has been such a great joy to me (and others) over the years, thanks so much

I don’t think we can comprehend how hard it is to make an elite 8. How many good teams get eliminated in the first weekend? Then have to play a tough sweet sixteen game. Yes there are easier paths but it isn’t easy

To make the final four you have to have a good team but you have to show up 4 games in a row.

NCST 4 weeks ago would have been crazy to think final 4 let alone making the tournament compared to UNC Duke KU UK ISU or us

Thanks to Dan, for another great season of keeping this place from devolving into the cesspool that the majority of the internet seems to be.
I love Illini basketball, and having the opportunity to contribute to this community makes me love it even more.
Thanks to the team and thanks to everyone here who makes the season that much more fun.
Cant wait to see what happens next.
Seconded.
