Not a bad idea. But defense is predicated on "want to", especially given the athleticism of players at this level. Kids can learn to play defense, but it is hard work. And yet, they all want to play at NBA level...some not realizing that to have a career there, it depends on a lean towards defense. Yes, there are a few that don't give there all on that end, but those few have to have elite offensive skills and bring them every game in order to stick. If Brad indeed recruits "every day guys", defense should improve drastically over the course of a season. But there is nothing weak or wrong about making a great zone defense part of your repertoire, especially against weaker perimeter shooting teams. Would love to see at least some of that. It does not make up for poor defense as you still need to know and work hard at defending properly. Still have to do the work and defend your zone.To be honest - zone might be our best defensive scheme this year given we’ll have some poor man to man defenders playing significant minutes- KJ, Riley and Hum all have their defensive limitations but can be good in zones with their length
Or we could just outscore everyone and not worry about defense - like last year
Oh no please don't wake the ghost of Alex Legion back to lifeThey literally can’t stop Morez at practice in 5 on 5
When you talk, I listen. This is good news to this ole guys ears. I really like this kid. I feel he will really fit in well this year. Not too worried about it personally. It's close to being worked out.

Great gesture,well deserved.
He’s now on scholarship for his last semester and no longer a walk on.confused? someone help clafiry the post
It is almost written as if he were moving on and thanking everyone. That is why I was confused. He’s now on scholarship for his last semester and no longer a walk on.
I'm pretty sure he is done. He was listed as a senior last year and is not listed on the roster. Sounds like he was put on a scholarship last semester maybe? It is almost written as if he were moving on and thanking everyone. That is why I was confused.
Felts like I was reading an LSAT statement before the questions. I was trying to find the flaw in the arguement lol
And our walk-ons appear more ripped than other teams' startersIt is almost written as if he were moving on and thanking everyone. That is why I was confused.

Bingo …
Fully expect Tomislav to get cleared … Just taking longer than expected …
Morez … Dawg … That’s all I’ve got to say …
He graduated after last season. He is just expressing his thanks for his time here. He is no longer on the team. He’s now on scholarship for his last semester and no longer a walk on.
What is the early access code to buy tickets? I'm in Chattanooga and wanted to make this game.Just got my tickets for the Alabama game. Hope to see a lot of orange in Birmingham!
I'll always defend (yes, pun at least somewhat intended) teams playing man to man. However, I do think a well-placed tactical adjustment going to zone should be in every team's toolkit. I still remember the 1-2-2 one Lon Kruger (also one who has been a strong man-to-man proponent over the years) tossed out a few times late in the 1997-98 season. They didn't use it too often, but I remember it being effective when it was used because teams struggled to adjust. To be honest - zone might be our best defensive scheme this year given we’ll have some poor man to man defenders playing significant minutes- KJ, Riley and Hum all have their defensive limitations but can be good in zones with their length

I wouldn't be surprised if he took some summer classes to make up for credits that didn't transfer and that's why he's posting now when he'll have officially obtained a diploma.I'm pretty sure he is done. He was listed as a senior last year and is not listed on the roster. Sounds like he was put on a scholarship last semester maybe?
Technically would have another year of COVID eligibility and its weird timing since it's September but maybe he's just starting grad school or something.
Keep us informed, Max. Illini for life.
Great gesture,well deserved.
Loyola Marymount 1989-1990 scoring 122.4 ppg??? We have one of these? That was a REALLY fun team to watch. The Hank Gathers thing was heartbreaking. He and Len Bias passing are 2 still very vivid memories for me.Loyola Marymount 1989-1990 scoring 122.4 ppg??? We have one of these? (God rest his soul)
