I agree, 100%. It was truly a travesty in how Kofi was officiated compared to other bigs in the B!G.

I don't know why you need to make a narrative where none exists. Families don't (usually) buy their kids' way onto teams.

He was a 3 star player and, if memory serves, we seemed to slow play him a bit. Might have been a token offer.

But my memory might be fuzzy.
He played at Peoria Notre Dame . He was a hard working kid, but not a player you looked at and said “ That’s a Big 10 kid.” Illinois was in a different place with recruiting at the time.

Illinois should hire you for an advisor as you always seem to know what they should have done.

Advisors are not Monday morning quarterbacks, though. They advise on these situations prior to them occurring. Requires deep knowledge of a process or thing, something this person does not have.

This person honestly thinks the staff should get rid of Coach O and hire him because he could've handled this better.

EDIT: I'd actually bet a lot of money that the staff did get good advice/guidance here, and Coach O knew going into recruiting him that there was a good chance he would not be eligible until late December or early January. As someone else said, not a problem, really. You can add him as the conference schedule approaches. Morez gets a lot more playing time than he otherwise would, which is great for us (and Morez is a freshman, but not your average freshman by any means). I'm sure that this was explored in depth by what is a top-tier Division I collegiate coaching staff. For some rando to come on here and act like they know more about the situation and could have handled it better themselves is completely crazy and absurd (but does make for great entertainment though lol).

Was looking at tickets

109.00 for a ticket against Ohio St in 200 section? 115.00 against Michigan st? What in the world?

Last year when I went to the Purdue game it was only 60 something.

Is this NIL inflation?

I don't understand what you wanted the staff to do. Not recruit him? You are asking for the staff to anticipate what one of the most inept organizations around will do?

Likely true....unless his son, brother, or father is the one making the decision.

Like another poster said, this isn't an optimal situation. To expect Morez to come in and hold his own on both ends of the floor isn't realistic. Now, a guy like Booth gets put in a position where he's got critical minutes

One of the strengths of this team last year is that we weren't one and done on offense and our ability to hit the glass on the defensive end led to breakouts and with the talent that we had(namely TSJ), we finished. We were super explosive, but it all started with getting out in transition, which starts with getting stops and being good enough on the glass to let the guards release.

Having a legitimate rim protector cures a lot of what ails you and covers up a lot of mistakes.

Brad put a pretty hefty non conference schedule together and our depth, size and athleticism is going to be tested immediately. I do buy into the theory that if we can grow and be solid early, that the presumed appearance of Tomi should have us peaking at the right time.

A lot of commentary is made up of absolutes made up wearing the O & B goggles. I'm just hoping that we don't have irrational posters that are going to destroy coach, Morez, the roster and the NCAA in the middle of a game thread early in the season.

We know who those people are and the hot takes during those threads. They are irrational and a lot of times uncalled for. The reason for that was delusional expectations before the season started.

This is going to be an unpredictable and bumpy ride to start the season...we had better have some Xanax and Tums close.

Not having the big guy readily available(IF he's not readily available), is not going to help matters when Tennessee, Alabama and Arkansas are on the docket.

I'm confused by your take here. Who "honestly" said that Coach O should be under any fire? You literally came up with that on your own.

I get that you think that this is going to be smooth sailing from the jump and I can appreciate your positive outlook. I hope that we run the table this year. That would be great.

That said, I refuse to believe that the staff was banking on Morez to hold down the fort for two months. As it is, Brad is not big on playing Freshmen a ton, especially early. He's been plain as day about that. The likeliness of him having a complete change of heart out of anything but necessity is minimal to nil.

It could very well be that he's comfortable with Booth getting significant minutes and that he's comfortable having he and Morez bring the paint protection for a couple of months.

IMO(and what do I know), they were caught a bit off guard. Back in July, there was minimal concern(publicly) about him being available. Our insiders didn't forsee any issues. As time has gone by, his "I have no clue" commentary is clearly one of frustration and I don't blame him. The NCAA, as a governing body, sucks. The insiders seem frustrated because what has gone from confidence has turned into December.

To think that this was the plan going on, to me, is silly. They were banking on him being available and hey....maybe he will be. They have him playing in this exhibition game, which should scream to you that they're banking on him.

Just met a girl here in Dallas with an Illini hat on. Asked her if she went to school there and she said no but my brother plays for them. I said what's his name? She said "Will Riley."

Small world.
Is she going to SMU?

Does anyone know which is the Illinois side of Enterprise for the Braggin' Rights game? I can't find that info anywhere.

Last year my Illinois tickets for the game were in Sections 105, 112, & 319.
