The way Brad has faded Tre's minutes the last two games shows that he might be seeing the same thing some of the crazy fans are seeing.

I think Tre has some redeeming qualities. He's a good rebounder and has the athleticism to be a good defender. But he needs to understand his role and play within it. The complaints people have aren't necessarily things that show up in the box score. But even so, he had the lowest +/- of the starters last night. Although he wasn't much worse than KJ and he was better than Dra and Rez.
can you share the +/- I looked for it and couldn't find it

This is from SportsReference. Also, I believe this is a per 100 possessions metric. So, it's not a raw +/- stat. Just FYI.

White +/- last night was +1 overall for the whole game.

From game log:

Came out (16:52) with the score 12-11 in favor of Alabama

At this point he had 2 pts 2 reb (1 off)

Came back in (13:11) with the score 23-17 in favor of Alabama

He then promptly got a defensive reb and made 2 more FT

Left the game (10:18) with the 29-19 in favor of Alabama

Alabama then scored 7 more unanswered points while White sat on the bench

Came back in (9:00) with score 36-19, blocked a shot, grabbed another reb

Then came out (6:37) with the score 38-26 Alabama

Came back in (5:37) score 40-26 Alabama, grabbed another off reb

Came back out (4:40) score 43-26 Alabama

Then, score 52-38 to start the 2nd half

Goes out (17:48) with score 57-45

Came back in (16:19) score 63-48, makes a layup

Comes back out (12:57) score 71-55

Came back in (7:29) score 80-65

Comes back out (6:03) score 84-70

You think Carey Booth was a -22 in the 3 mins he played? Take a closer look at the statistic you are referencing.

EDIT: It's a per possession metric like you said, but there are other nuances with it. Raw +/- White was +1 in a game we lost by 13 points.

The problem is the things he does that people don't like are very visible even though he does a lot well. The occasional possession where he goes 1v1 overshadow when he makes a nice cut or attacks the glass. The possession of getting lost and giving up a 3 overshadow getting a block at the rim on a big guy or snagging a contested rebound. Basically he makes mistakes that are visible and end up hurting the team but they are all fixable things and he has the ability to do a lot of good too.

You were more industrious than me. I only looked to see start of game to refute a post saying Riley should start because the beginning of the game when Tre was in set he tone.

I’d like to see Tre pick it up some. Was hoping for a little more from him, but don’t understand the Tre bashing. He’s like everyone else on team, trying to figure how to play together. And the Tre vs Ty thing is just silly. Ty chose to redshirt. By the early distribution of minutes, it seems he made right call.

You should take a closer look at the stats you're referencing 😉

Basketball and not football, the feds, and the timing around the election, maybe something to do with the influx of foreign citizen players and NIL making a total mockery of the student visas that are the basis for their presence in the country?

Just a total wild guess. Obviously that would be, uh, not great for us.

(I suppose the other more obvious thing would be sports betting. But why just basketball and not football?)
I'm going gambling more towards point shaving. This is more widespread than just Temple being investigated. We shall see.

I don't know. Perhaps Ty might reconsider. He would bring toughness and rebounding that we need. Not sure Tre is providing such shooting as to be more valuable than that.

Just perused the UW (Seattle) athletics ticket site where all BIG10 games are now up for sale and the Illinois game clearly has the most sold tickets. Should be fun!

Why would Ty reconsider? What has changed? All the same players are there. Riley is going to devour the lion’s share of minutes. He’d have to share leftover minutes with Tre. Seemingly that wasn’t enough heading into season, so why would it be now? BU wouldn’t glue Tre to the bench and give all those minutes to Ty.

I don't think your numbers are correct. I have White at -9 for the game.

Here's one error that led to the discrepancy. I stopped auditing after the first one.

You said: (Tre White) Came back in (13:11) with the score 23-17 in favor of Alabama

The gamelog I see says this:

Yes, looks like one mistake.

He was -1 then

-9? Share how you came up with that then

FWIW I think Ty could help us more at the 4 than at the 3. You're correct that Will and Tre will likely add up to 40 mpg at the 3.

But it's likely not relevant as he apparently wants to RS to get an extra year of NIL earnings (like Sencire did last year).

No, there are surely more than that. I just quit looking after the first one. You can check your own work. I checked mine and came up with the same number multiple times. -9.

Meanwhile playing bad defense and taking some very selfish shots.

I did check my work.

-1

-9? 🤣🤣

I posted my work, let's see your math

Meanwhile playing bad defense and taking some very selfish shots.

Had the least # of shot attempts of anyone who played 10 or more minutes

The DRtg wasn't great for any of our guys, but he did have a nice block

Yes i agree about the number of shots. However the shots he took were very selfish and forced them. Had kj wide open on one for sure. The one he got called for the travel i believe. Also had one more that was very forced. Knew he was going to shoot it as soon as he got it. It's not the number of his shots. It's the quality of his shot.
