I don't know about that. I had season tickets to Harv's 73-74 team.
As did I. Harv's last couple of teams were probably the worst Illini teams I have ever seen in my many years of watching them which began when I started Law School in the fall of 1967.

A couple of answers:

1)We have absolutely no clue what this team will look like in November. Just like last year, it's going to take time to find roles and mesh.

2)When playing that schedule, there's absolutely zero time for development. The benefit of playing 5 or 6 mid tier teams(not #310, 285, etc) is that the young guys get playing time, you can mix and match different guys, the team builds some cohesiveness, etc. Those games are extremely valuable.

3)Take off the O & B goggles for a second and understand that going 1-4 in those games isn't wildly out of the realm of possibility given #1 above or at the expense at #1 above.

4)Adding three more games of the like that early only throws gas in a potential fire.

In the era of NIL, these guys need time to gel. We're not returning 75% of the roster.

If this team were to start out 6-5, that would be a heck of a hole to dig out of.

The line between being really aggressive and stupid is thin. Right now..... we're really aggressive. Loading on any more and it moves into the stupidity category.

The goal, when loading up, is to end up with, at worst, an 8-3(preferably 9-2) non-con record. If you think about that, if we go 8-3, then 13-7 in conference.....That's 21-10 going into the BTT and assuming 2-1 there, that's 23-11 on Selection Sunday. Many called that a failure last year. The same people pining for a fully loaded schedule will be the same people who will want heads to roll with double digit losses or a non top 25 ranking.

Brad is a master scheduler and knows how to play the metrics perfectly. I expect that to continue.

So happy Ty is coming back! I feel last year we missed his athleticism, rebounding, defense, leadership, and other intangibles. He should have great synergism with our shiny new Euros.
ILL!

Same. Man that was some bad ball.

Same here. Season tickets for both basketball and football from 1970-74. It’s a wonder I still care about Illini sports. Those seasons with both of those sports were absolutely brutal…#IlliniForLife 🧡💙

On the basketball side of this, was it worse than 2013-2017? That was an abysmal stretch...

Ty will be able to indirectly create matchup problems for other teams. If teams want to put their 5 on Ty like they did two years ago, Tomi or Z will have smaller guys on them which will make both more dangerous as they will have to pick their poison. I am hoping that Ty becomes the Sergio McClain/Lucas Johnson glue guy that we missed last year. Get 8-10 points off garbage buckets and easy layups or dunks off of passes from our guards.

Btw that girl has to know she’s famous right? Curious if anyone knows anything about her that’s just a classic.

I would take Shannon over podz every day. Minnesota coach was stupid to not play him more.
Shannon was not better than what they had. I see Shannon has a bench guy for his career. He isn’t a good shooter and doesn’t play defense well. He played a stretch during the regular season because of injuries. His best playoff game was in a blowout against other bench players. I hope i’m wrong but we shall see.

And on top of that, imagine if Ty can knock down the occasional open jumper — now you’ve really got problems.
