Usually, I'm the annoying homer that jumps in to these types of convos and talks up our players while downplaying those that chose to portal.

But this is one of those rare instances where I'm going to take the opposite stance. I feel Morez will likely start at the 5 for them. Also, if there is a universe in which they can make Yaxel work at the 3 spot, a lineup of Cadeau/Gayle/Yaxel/Morez/Mara with Burnett, Cason, Tschetter off of the bench is absolutely terrifying.

Our big question mark right now is the 4 spot, and Morez would have slotted in perfectly aside Tomi.
I don't remember Morez making a shot of greater than 4 feet. How is he going gto be a perfect 4.

I can buy him starting at the 5, but he wanted to be Michigan's next Danny Wolf which I think is out of the question next year at least.

Agree and I think morez is better than adara and I don't think it's close. I do question why he went to Michigan but I do think he's their starting 5

I'm mostly ok with less out of bounds reviews because the way that they are called on the court vs replays are so wildly different. For 38 minutes the spirit of the call is that if a defender pokes or slaps the ball out of someone's hand its off the defender unless is clearly hits another body part of the offensive player. With the reviews they take a microscopic look to see if it brushed a finger tip on the offensive player on the way out.
anyone know % of OOB calls that were reversed? Seems like they mostly got them right

I've always wondered what do people have going on in their lives that shortening a basketball game by 5 minutes will change? What are you going to do with those 5 minutes?? Make two hot pockets??
with the long reviews - was able to watch other game(s) in final minute(s), now will have less back and forth

Did I miss the game where he demonstrated that he could defend even an average 4 on the perimeter? I did see that the most common result of his trying to drive from 10'+ out seemed to be a turnover. The ball was all over the place with no feel for any helping defensive hands. As to the shot, he never shot from 15'+ in a game, so I don't know. Claiming he should be the starting four on this data seems quite a stretch. What did I miss?

IMO why both changes were made
1) the last 2 minutes took a good amount of time to finish the game with reviews and by removing the automatic request/reviews if the referees got 90% (my guess) correct then making this change speeds up the end of game and doesn't likely impact the outcome
2) adding coaches challenges allows for potential OOB reviews

I agree with the sentiment. Lol
I’m definitely in the: “ I’d rather they get the call correct” camp.

But to be fair…if you think about it isn’t 5 minutes actually long enough to shape world events? Let’s be real. How long did it take for a lot of kid brothers to be born across the world? How about the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand? I think we can all remember how that turned out.

Yeah I feel like 5 extra minutes is quite the cloud to be yelling at

Then again, I'm an old fogey purist through and through who hates pitch clocks and ghost runners in MLB

I still thinking people complaining about the length of the last two mins of the game are wrong. In a close game, I want every call right.

That being said I think the refs needed to use the inconclusive excuse waaaay more. Unless they blatantly got it wrong, just move on with the call on the floor.

Exactly. A review should be limited to 30 seconds. This stuff where they blow up the screen 100 times to see two sets of hands on the ball is crazy. Unless it's blatant, play on. You start running into situations, especially late in games, where coaches will use their review as a wing and a prayer in the face of a loss.

The end of game reviews are brutal. The game literally stops with every possession. I put it right on par with a WR complaining about PI....on every ball they don't catch.

End of every half: ball out, semi close call. Players and coaches circle their fingers in the air to signify they want a free timeout. The referees never say no. NEVER. They don't announce what they are looking at before going to the monitor - first one, then the second joins him. They discuss what they saw and then watch it again. It takes three to make a decision so they walk away and let the third official watch the play. They huddle to discuss minutiae about the play in question. One of them goes back to watch again as the crowd groans. They come together again, decide on whatever they were looking at, then split up to tell the announcer and coaches. Fans at the game find out based on changes to the scoreboard - it's never announced.

The ball is thrown in but deflected out of bounds. The players circle their fingers in the air.....

Agreed. Morrez never demonstrated he could make a shot or even take one. He's a classic 5.

Yeah, can’t say I remember that one but certainly read about it. I think the physicality of the game today is even more problematic. Every single possession there could be multiple fouls called.
