Illini Basketball 2025-2026

Per Scott Richey at The News-Gazette, the 2025 edition of the Illinois vs Missouri Border Wars game will be on Monday, December 22nd. I realize that it is the week of Christmas, but it stinks that it will be a Monday night game.

Literally even doing it Tuesday would be better. I can’t believe they picked that date.

I have been to the last 5 Border War games. I take my 3 Brother-in-laws, from St Louis area. That has been our Holiday tradition. With it being on a Monday, I won't be able to drive from Chicago and make the game.

It's been mid week recently and apparently you were able to make those.

I'm not understanding the consternation here. The number of times this has been mid week has been quite a few. I don't care to research. If the teams are good, they'll fill the place up. Most important is the television and I'm sure that's a huge factor in deciding the day.

This is the camp I'm in. Whether the 22nd falls on a Monday or Wednesday, it's still close enough to Christmas that most companies are either off or people are using their PTO to prep for the holiday. It feels like it's the perception of it being on a Monday driving ire rather than actually looking at the calendar date.

I'll be honest, if we weren't expecting our first baby at the end of October, this is the year I'd try to con my husband into going down. Working in a high school I'd be off already, and he always takes the week off Christmas off. It would be perfect for our timing. Alas, baby girl to be has other plans for us and I'll be cheering from the couch again.

Factors to take in are what is already booked at the Enterprise center. Could be a hockey or concert conflict.

Agree. This close to Christmas the days of the week pretty much go out the window.

Congrats and best wishes on the baby to be! Parenting sure is a wild ride.

Thanks! It's on my list of things to do as soon as we're home for the hospital. She picked a good time of year with overlap between football and basketball, so I'll get to spend lots of time with her teaching her our ways 😁

Congrats!!! Your daughter wont be able to ever say she has been to every Braggin rights game, since she was born, unless she goes this year...just sayin :p
