Randle was SF who could not shoot. The only big body on the bench was Shaun Pruitt who Weber had not played all season. He stayed with Ingram, and 4 starters. We hit a couple 3 pointers and we could have won it.
Randle was listed at 6-8, 220. All defensive player. He would have had an impact.

The game was tied 65-65 and 70-70. The Illini just missed a few shots down the stretch like you said that flip the result if they go down.

That being said the Illini got absolutely hosed by the officiating. Sean May going 10/11 from the field and 6/8 from the line and somehow only picking up 1 foul was the only reason North Carolina was even in the game. The Illini win by 10+ if the game is called evenly.

Ingram provided some quality minutes plus him and Powell absolutely killed UNC on the offensive boards which made up for a cold shooting night. Pruitt was a freshman that hardly played(junior or senior year Pruitt probably could have banged with May), Carter was a skinny little utilized sophomore that wasn't good until his senior year, and Smith was a twig that likely would have just been backed under the basket. I don't really think Weber made a mistake(maybe Smith's length would have given May some issues but I feel like he would have also gotten bullied).

Dee, Deron, and Luther went 10/34 from 3(Luther shot 41%, Dee shot 43%, and Deron shot 36% from 3 that year). If they knock down 2 more attempts and go 12/34(35%) they win the title regardless.

Randle was a fairly skinny wing/small ball 4. He wasnt going to guard May. He would have been a nice depth piece that would have made an all time team even better but I don't think he moves the needle a ton.

The real what if is Charlie Villanueva. If he stays committed the 05 team might legitimately be the best college team in history and likely goes 39-0.

That slop shot by the guy at OSU at the buzzer kept us from having a perfect BIG regular season.

OK we'll have to agree to disagree. He was an all Big Ten defnsive player--he could have for certain given better minutes on May than they got from Augie or Pruitt. Randle was 6-8, 220. Dennis Rodman for comparison was 6-7, 210.

Yep. A team that shot 39.2% from three for the year went 12-40 (30.0%) from deep, including missing the following late in the second half after we tied it at 70-70 with only 2:40 to go ... again these are ALL threes, and you can see by the score in parentheses how crucial these chances were.

2:03 - Miss by Williams (ILL 70, UNC 70)
1:10 - Miss by Head (UNC 72, ILL 70) ... offensive rebound by Ingram
54 sec - Miss by Williams (UNC 72, ILL 70) ... offensive rebound by Powell
*** Turnover by Head ***
16 sec - Miss by Head (UNC 73, ILL 70)

Four WIDE open 3-piont attempts that could have taken the lead or tied the game. To add insult to injury, at least three of the four looked damn-near perfect leaving our shooters' hands (IIRC), and they were the exact types of clutch shots we had hit all year. To miss them with no hand in the face and everything on the line was truly heartbreaking.

The 2:03 miss by Williams forever lives in my head - I had a clear angle of it and it looked right on - if he makes that, the arena would have exploded and I think UNC panics on the other end and we end up winning the game.

Deron also had a clear lane to the basket on that shot if he wanted it - but that team lived by the three and in that case died by the three at the end of the game, so I can't fault them for taking wide open threes

So pathetic. We know how this goes. Would be shocked if he plays more than 10 games for us
Well looking at your post history, you were trying to get the board to admit that Andrej was never going to commit to Illinois in the first place.

And then on Friday you declared the season over in the first quarter after Melvin Priestly left the game for like three plays before returning with no issues.

So you'll have to excuse me for calling into question both your medical expertise and your insight into Andrej Stojakovic in general.
