One of the funniest comedy routines I ever heard was Bill Cosby describing being bribed into getting his tonsils removed by getting to eat all the ice cream he could eat after he had his tonsils out. Is hilarious.

I do a lot of tonsil surgery (took out two sets today). If he just had them out today he's going to be in a lot of pain for the next several days. Increased risk of bleeding until two weeks after surgery so I generally tell patients no sports for two weeks. Usually the older you are the worse it is but teenagers and early 20 year-olds sometimes recover quickly. I wouldn't expect it, though. Inflamed tonsils usually means more bleeding, more cauterization, and more pain.
On the bright side, I did get to binge watch a lot of shows that I had been neglecting when I got mine out... when I was not asleep from the narcotics, that is.

Hopefully Tomi doesn't drop to much weight, gonna have to get after some Fletch pancakes and chicken alfredo when he is feeling better.

Highly endorsed. I'd get nasty tonsillitis a couple times a year in H.S and college. Then I got it fall senior year and it didn't go away. Had them removed at Xmas break. The recovery sucked for a week or so (scar tissue apparently builds up every time you have it, so when the surgery occurs it's highly invasive) but then I didn't have a cold again for more than a decade. Hope Tomi goes illness-free this season.
I had mine removed when I was 3 yrs old......I still remember seeing a yellow and black spinning wheel in my mind when they put that ether mask over my face................ate ice cream for a solid week.............never have had many colds in my life..............

He got sick a couple more times this offseason, so they decided to just get this done before the year starts. Should be back in practice in a few days.
I had my tonsils out when I was almost 20. I was back to normal in less than a week.

My son was getting sick more than normal and had mono and strep 3 times in one year when he was 9-10 yrs old. Doctor removed his tonsils and he hardly got sick the rest of his school years.

It would be great if I had any idea what questions were being asked.

That's common with the Inquirer's re-uploaded press conferences. Try finding the original host (the Illini or Big Ten YouTube channels) and you've got a much better shot of hearing the questions.

Maybe. Getting your tonsils out in your 20s (or later) isn't as quick a recovery as when you are like 9. It took me a full 20 weeks to recover when I got mine out at age 30. Your tonsils are simply buried deeper in the surrounding tissue when you are older so it's a more invasive procedure with higher bleed risk.
That's exponentially worse!

I shouldn't have expected anything better from ESPN but I think everyone can figure out where I stopped reading...

And Illinois might just beat Loyola Chicago, finally.
When I went here to read the article, there was another article, just by coincidence, listed on the right side that said, "Sister Jean, beloved Loyola-Chicago chaplain, dies at 106”. This probably doesn’t belong here, but I didn’t know where else to post it. Also, I thought I had read somewhere that she had died a few months ago, but the article was written today. So, excuse me if I am getting this all wrong. Anyway, I just thought some would be interested.

I think that was where @POWURR 's closing sentence was pointing to. But thanks and RIP Sister Jean.
