I don’t think we have anyone to slow down Morez when we play Michigan, I assume he’ll get a lot of playing time that game, bring intensity and try to prove a point.
By time that happens Ty should be healthy and completely take he who shall not be named by me out of the game.. let him chase Ty around d for 30 minutes and he will foul out.

When did he take shots at the staff? I think you’re reading in to his comments far too much.

The only information anyone has available is that he resigned with Illinois and then backed out of that commitment 3 weeks later.

Anything more is pure speculation. There’s no need to ALL CAPS SCREAM about this, though I admit I am a little disappointed you seem to be more of a Morez fan than an Illinois fan for whatever reason. 🤷‍♂️
Lol. Please. Have you watched the video? There is much more information out there than that he risigned and backed out. Sorry to disappoint you, but I am no fan of a player who leaves the Illini program after making a commitment, then, by all accounts, trashes it on the way out the door. I hope we make him the new Hunter Dickinson every time we play them. But thanks for the instruction on how to be an IL fan. Are you a member of his family? Because you sure are sensitive about opinions about why he left.

"I was looking for a place where I could evolve my game. Looking for a players coach, a coach that want to see his players develop throughout the time they are there."

"Oh, coach May a great person, man. Off the court he's a great person, on the court he's a great person. He push you to the limits but in a nice way. And he really spent time with the players like he do individual work with players. I never seen a head coach do individual workouts on the court with a player."

All positive quotes about his new head coach, nothing negative about his time here.

Let’s pretend for a second that Morez DID take shots at our program/coach (he didn’t, but we’re pretending): You blindly trust a kid that signed a contract and then backed out of it 3 weeks later?

Dude, are you like his best friend or brother or something? Why so sensitive about speculation different from your speculation in response to a post inviting speculation? I can see that we are going to have to agree to disagree here.

Why can’t you argue my points rather than claim I’m insensitive or accuse me of being related to him?

Again- where are the negative comments about Illinois / Brad Underwood? There aren’t any because they don’t exist

I see this as a friendly discussion, I’d hope you would feel the same (and it’s totally ok for us to agree to disagree at this point as everyone else has tired of the topic by now)

Look, Morez wouldn't continue to take shots at our staff unless he was unhappy with how things went down. He continues to publicly trash the IL program's ability to "evolve his game" or allow him to "expand his role." Watch the video that was posted directly before my post #360 and listen to what he himself says.

The poster who shared the video asked for "Thoughts on the Morez quote" from the video. I gave a response stating that he may have been unhappy with his perception of how he was handled here BASED ON HIS QUOTES IN THE VIDEO (that I directly quoted above.)

That was then labeled a "wild theory" as to why he ultimately accepted UM's NIL offer even after accepting ours. LISTEN TO MOREZ's OWN WORDS. HE CONTINUES TO SAY HE LEFT TO BE BETTER DEVELOPED (in his opinion). Either that is the reason, or he is lying and it was all about money. If he did, indeed leave for his own stated reason and is not lying, by default, he was unhappy with his situation here. It's not a great mystery if you listen to the man's own words!

Watching a few KW clips. I can see why he was underrated. Most people see his shot and think he won’t get that off at high major or if he does he won’t hit at a high %. My guess is he is getting that shot off and hitting at a high percentage in practice at this level! We will know by Jan 1 if the hype train is real! If it is upside is through the roof!

That was a good watch, even if a bit long. I’m officially on the hype train again. 😀

Because he didn't yet have a better offer?

Would be interested if @Indy Illini Fan has any theories?

If Morez came back … His role was going to look a lot different than it did last year …

That was part of the deal …

But I could go on forever about how the players have way too much power nowadays … Contracts mean nothing … Things have to change …

LaTulip (paraphrased): I saw it firsthand; the connection our international players have with one another is a very, very real thing.
that was a great way to spend 1 hour and 17 minutes listening to 3 knowledgeable media guys talking Illini hoops.............gave me some interesting thoughts on what to expect and even look for in the early part of the schedule.......the in depth thoughts of these guys shook off a lot of the off season rust from not knowing what to look for as the season draws closer to that first tip off....

great time also with the bye week in FB to get the vibes going for another potentially very successful season in MBB......

it really really was.......

If I'm reading between the lines correctly, it sounds like the staff was open to letting him try to shoot 3s and stretch the floor instead of just being a rebounder underneath. If that's the case, it's even more annoying that his camp came out with the story that we wouldn't let him try that.

Or am I totally off base?

Regarding Morez, if you're not bought into your role, you're just not as valuable to the team. Not a huge loss. Could've been a beast if he just committed to doing the things he does well.

I feel the same way about Tre White. He can be an outstanding X factor type of player from the wing but he thinks he should be more than that so he'll probably not bring as much value to Kansas as he could if he would buy into his role.

Of course. This was all about money. The rest was simply an attempt to make him look like the good guy.

FWIW I'm fine with it being about the money. But not when you already made a deal.

My opinion is that, if a guy like Morez (played a lot of meaningful minutes on a top 25 team as a true freshman and was committed to play here for like 3 years) transfers, then literally there does not exist a player who is a guaranteed returner and it’s time to stop being shocked at this.

Indy, thanks again for all your great info.

Seems to me that Morez's trust and faith in the staff was broken when he didn't get the playing time over Ben that he felt -- and most on here agree- Morez deserved for much of the season. On that basis I understand Morez's decision -- what do you think can or should change?
