You're conveniently leaving out the fact that he is 16-7 in the tourney with trips to the elite eight, a championship game, and a sweet 16 last year in his second season at Ole miss of all schools. Hes done this all in 9 seasons as a head coach. Brad Underwood has had 12 seasons to win half as many games with an 8-9 record and only 1 second weekend appearance which was an elite 8, and oh yea had to vacate all his wins in 2 of his 3 years at Stephen Austin.

As well as the fact that the allegations against Chris Beard were dropped and apparently he was acting in self defense. So im not willing to hold that against him as a testament to poor character. Completely irrelevant to me.

Just saying, the original poster implied that Underwood has proven to be better, and I dont think thats at all the case yet considering we are searching for our first national championship and his biggest criticism is not getting the job done in March where Chris Beard has been massively better.

I didn't leave anything out, I posted his entire career record. He had one fluke run, woo hoo, and that's been almost 10 years ago now. Since then, he's made the tournament twice and beat up a woman. Using your logic of propping up Chris Beard because of a single season of luck-ball tournament success, guys like Kevin Keatts and John Brady are elite coaches too?

Guy is an atrocious human being and a mediocre basketball coach. You can have him.

Tell me you’re easily duped without telling me you’re easily duped.

16-7 in the tourney isn't one fluke run. Hes got 3 tourney appearances since the title appearance including the 2nd weekend last year with Ole fricken Miss. Self defense isn't a crime. Those are things you conveniently left out. If you think Beard is a mediocre basketball coach, then you need to take the orange and blue goggles off and reconsider your stance on Brad. But I think they're both high level, just Beard has shown he can take a team farther up to this point.

One of the four agreements in life..... don't make assumptions. If the man had a history of it, I'd say where there's smoke there's fire, but im not gonna assasinate a man's character over 1 incident where he wasn't the aggressor and charges were dropped.

Like I said, Kevin Keatts and John Brady have went farther than Brad too. Doesn’t mean they’re better coaches.

Beard hasn’t done anything notable in years. Even if you ignore the fact he put his hands on a woman, he’s still a nobody. Ask CBS Sports why they ranked Brad ahead of him on the list that’s being discussed here.

I honestly think you also should research the incident that he was fired from Texas for. You’re using willful ignorance to try to win an internet argument, which is gross and makes you look like an absolute fool. Be better.

According to the POLICE REPORT, she suffered horrendous injuries. Don’t be a domestic abuse apologist, it’s disgusting.

Fact: Texas fired his ***, just as they should have

He took an Ole Miss program to the second weekend in his second year while battling through potentially the toughest basketball conference in the history of the sport. To downplay his recent accomplishments is the willful ignorance. Nobody denied he was involved in an altercation, him and his wife claimed she was the aggressor and acted in self defense. Thats not domestic abuse or apologizing for it. There's nothing disgusting about not wanting to jump to conclusions. Its maturity to not jump to conclusions. You're a fan of Brad, thats wonderful, but to slander another man for details you dont fully understand and slander him as a coach is somebody cherry picking again, for convenience.

Chris Beard 6’8” 250
His fiance 5’6” 115

She suffered terrible injuries according to police report

“Self defense”

He is lucky he gets to be a mediocre basketball coach instead of in prison where he belongs

Forget the fact you’re excusing him being an awful person for one minute: CBS Sports rated Brad above him, so I’ll go with their opinion on this.

Funny people are so critical of sports outlets until it works in their favor. I refuse to let my allegiances get in the way of being logical. Let me ask you this, do you think Underwood is better or worse than Calipari? Because if you're deferring to CBS as the expert, you have to admit all 18 coaches ahead of Brad are better than him.

Critical of sports outlets? Yeah maybe a bunch of blowhards who think they know more than a bunch of guys who do this for a living and have forgotten more about ball than you have ever known. You’re the one being critical of a reputable sports outlet here, not me.

Don’t know what Calipari has to do with the discussion, other than “hey look, squirrel!”

Chris Beard win totals his last 6 seasons: 24, 20, 7 (fired), 22, 18, 18

Total of 109 (average 18 wins per year)

Brad has 30 more than that in the same timeframe as well an E8, 2 conf tourney championships and a regular season conf championshp. Beard has none of those within the same timeframe. He is old news whose only relevance was a luck-ball FF run that happened nearly 10 years ago, and the reputable source here rates Brad ahead of him.

He got to the championship in 2019! Since you wanna reference the 7 win season where he was fired, 3 of his last 7 coaching seasons resulted in 3 trips to the second weekend including an elight 8 and a trip to the championship. Don't talk to me about willful ignorance, you're the definition. You mentioned the CBS rankings, so if you had a program would you want Underwood or Calipari?

Since Brad Underwood got to Illinois 8 years ago, Chris Beard teams have more wins in his last 8 seasons that Brad Underwood, give it up dude.

Stop with the Calipari distraction, he is also old news and hasn’t done anything for a while, but he went to 6 final fours and won a championship and will be a lock for the HOF so I have no idea why you’d be so unhappy with him being 14th on this list. He’s also a huge slimeball like Beard so I’d prefer neither of them be our coach.

Beard won only 18 games in 3 of the 5 seasons at Texas Tech, got fired from Texas, and only made the tourney 1/2 years at Ole Miss.

These are facts, sorry they don’t align with your side of the argument. You’re doing some real mental gymnastics here to pump up Chris Beard which is a mystery to me in and of itself. Your latest delusional point being that CBS Sports isn’t as qualified as you are to do the ranking.

I would want Underwood, do you really think Calipari would have been able to get the top recruits to come to Illinois? Kentucky under performed during Calipari's tenure with the teams he had.

So you dont agree with the list! So stop citing it! Facts are in Beard's last 8 seasons he won more games than Underwood and went to a championship in 19' and got further than Underwood last year with lesser programs. See what happens when you debate based on your feelings?! You fall on your face! You can love Brad without sounding irrational.

Read the police report and tell me that sounded like self defense. Just because his girlfriend (not his wife) didn't go forward with pressing charges doesn't mean it suddenly became "self defense."
