2010-11: 1
2011-12: 3
2012-13: 4
2013-14: 3
2014-15: 1
2015-16: 2
2016-17: Zero
2017-18: Zero
2018-19: 2
2019-20: 3
2020-21: 8
2021-22: 4
2022-23: 5
2023-24: 2
2024-25: 5
2025-26: 4 and counting
We have 3 ranked matchups remaining in the regular season. If we get a top 4 seed in the BTTT and make it to the championship, that would be 2 more. If we make it to the E8, that would be 2 more.

That puts us at roughly 7 remaining ranked matchups. Win 5 (not easy) and that would be our most since 04-05.

Updated list:

Keaton, Kylan, Stoj, Mirk, Tomi, Ben, Z, Jake, Petro

Keaton, Kylan, Stoj, Mirk, Tomi, Ben, Z, Jake

Keaton, Kylan, Stoj, Mirk, Tomi, Ben

Keaton, Kylan, Stoj

Keaton
I feel like there's going to be a Jake 20 point game before Kylan gets back, but it's probably wishful thinking

9 wins in such games in 40 seasons ... and over half of them have occurred in the previous five years, lol. We all want more consistency and fewer 2023 or even 2025 campaigns, but that has become harder than ever with NIL and the portal, IMO. We all want more Tournament success, but that comes with continuing to get back there with a high seed. The fact is, we have seen some wins in the last five years that are SUPER rare across decades of watching successful Illini basketball, and it backs up that Saturday's win at Purdue isn't just huge for this season ... it will go down in Illini history, especially if this team keeps up its winning ways!

Haven't heard anything lately...but has everyone given up on any chance of a return for Ty this season?

#463
Don't have the answer, but I do have another question. If Ty returns this season can he, under any circumstances, play for us next year as well?
Yes… he is a Jr. this year. Has one more year if he comes back this season. Remember that he redshirted his Jr. year keeping the Jr. status this year! Good news yes?

But some people would like to cut his minutes in favor of Petro.
The call for more Petro wasn’t necessarily a call to cut into KW mins. More time on the court when KW is in foul trouble ala Penn State, when the O is having trouble against zone ala Minnesota. KW can still be on the floor with Petro and be just as effective if not more at times.

This happened in the Southern U game (maybe other games?). Unfortunately, the Illini thrashed them, but if I remember correctly (after all, it was a whole month ago, so I certainly may not remember correctly), it wasn’t just at garbage time. I think it was in the first half. MP took over the PG duties, and KW played wing. Worked pretty well, but then, again, Southern was not much competition.

But Tyler is a nepo-baby that doesn't deserve to run this offense

2 years ago you guys called me crazy for reporting that Tyler had NBA offers... Not to be an assistant, but to be on a few different staffs.

Also hey everybody sorry I've been absent! Hope all is good around here.

@sharpshot16 Glad to see you’re back! Hope you’re ok. You and your insight were missed!

Our offense is not just #1, but far and away #1:

Almost a full 2.0pts ahead of second place Purdue (who just lost @Indiana).

In fact, Purdue stayed at 2 at offense and jumped a spot over us on defense lol. We flip flopped 29 and 30
need to get that defense back top 20. we have a had a string only so so defensive games last 5 games, giving up 67 points minimum in each. Purdue game I don't really care because they are that good. love to get a little more consistent on the defensive end over next 5 games since we don't play any offenses in the top 20 in that stretch

Need Boswell back. Until then, defense will continue to take a back seat.

Last 5 have been 82, 70, 67, 68 and a nice 69. 67-70 ppg would rank about 260-320’s in D1 ranks- I think the Purdue outlier of those 5 did a number on us.

That said. We play slow, so I’m sure we’re getting dinged on the points per possession thing.
