We'll see. he's a fairly poor example as he's getting a large shiney nugget with JBB. They may not care, and that's fine. Yet no one is going to convince me that Scheyer develops as I've yet to see him take putty and really shape it, more acquiring really great talent and seeing it off in a year.I can't remember when i said this midseason, but that part is no small feat and is the baseline for continuing to bring in top recruits. Lots and lots of coaches either misevaluate the wrong "gold" or simply fail with awesome players. Even great coaches have had failures with awesome recruits.
If the kid from Barcelona is actually all that, I think he'll succeed at Duke and Scheyer has proven that. Your point on anyone ranked outside really the top 20 not developing at Duke stands. I'm not sure he or Duke cares though and we'll see how that works long term.
Filipowski was the 4th ranked kid, went in second round. Stats weren't tremendously better second year. Mitchell was ranked 13th, pushed out. Proctor 23rd. Harris 39th, already pushed him out after 2 years. TJ Powers.
I have yet to see one example of him really developing anyone. It's been amazing acquisition, yet how much of that is him versus the Duke brand?
