It's close between these two and TSJ. TSJ had the handles and could go coast to coast with insane body control. Kenny's above the rim, high-energy, acrobatic slam dunks and explosive athleticism. Nick attacked the basket aggressively and rebounded like crazy for his size. Could also throw in Kendall and Ayo too.

Fanta is the man. I hope we get him on the call in at least one game this year.
I’ve said this before, but I’d love to sit at a sports bar with Fanta, a few other knowledgeable and rational college basketball fans, and with 4-5 games on at the same time over pizza and beers. That would be a fun evening talking college hoops with Fanta.

Filtering out recency bias... TSJ will always be the greatest athlete. It's not even close.

Can't wait to see it on the court with my own eyes. And yeah, without bringing in the Flying Illini he would be my nominee too.

That said, I don't think best athlete, worst shooter is the title I'd be aiming for.

Is there any chance at all that Mirk comes back for another year or is it a foregone conclusion he is NBA bound?
Brad needs to allocate some of his revenue sharing $ to Green in order to secure a transfer of the Betts girl from UCLA. Love>NBA.

I put a $100 on it at the South Point in Vegas a couple weekends ago. 15/1 odds there for any locals who might be interested. Everywhere else was 12/1 or 13/1. IF they win of course I have to fly back out there to collect. That'd be one heck of a celebration should it come to pass. My normal pessimistic self has extreme optimism for this season. I have a weird feeling it's gonna happen this year.
If you win, you can mail the betting slip to Southpoint, you don’t have to go out there.

Would be interested to see a thread with how people rank the BIG coaches. With May gone, I assume the top tier would be Brad, Painter and Izzo. Izzo clearly a HOF coach and on another level in terms of his career, but also hasn't had a FF since the covid year. Still winning a lot of games and had an E8 a couple years ago.

My all-time favorite Illini game I had the pleasure of attending. We bought tickets from Louisville fans after the game and sat behind the basket for the Syracuse game. Never thought we'd make the comeback, but we did against an incredibly talented Syracuse team. Then we flew out of Champaign to Seattle on the alumni charter, landed at 2 a.m., saw the semifinal game the next day, and had to sit around for three days after the loss to Michigan. Flew back to Willard and drowned my sorrow in a Papa Del's pizza.
