Not having a 04-05 throwback yet is kinda shocking. Probably one of the most influential Illini teams ever and no throwback uniform. Has to happen.

Yeah, I'm not sure there is a contract-related excuse Nike or the DIA could throw out for this one ... the fact we didn't have a throwback for the 20th anniversary season is truly shocking, and - at least in the realm of basketball uniforms and branding - it speaks to an utter indifference from the DIA and Nike.

So can any insiders confirm if we’ll indeed be rocking our Fall 2018 uniforms yet again?? 
Was wondering myself, I look for the post of the new uniforms every day. I carefully examine every post they make hoping they're hinting at something new this season. I'm almost to a point where I feel like Brad either doesn't care or has some attachment to them due to the amount of success we've had wearing them.So can any insiders confirm if we’ll indeed be rocking our Fall 2018 uniforms yet again??

I honestly think it's the first one ... somebody once posted here that the only reason we switched from the 2017-18 ones to our current ones we adopted in 2018-19 was because Ayo - our stud freshman who was the highest-ranked recruit we had had in years and meant even more than his ranking due to where we were and his Chicago roots! - brought it up and said we needed new jerseys.
What confuses me is that it's not like EVERYONE is oblivious to this. Josh clearly is at the very least attentive to the uniforms/branding on the football side of things, and players such as Coleman have Tweeted things making fun of the fact that we have had relatively lame uniforms for a SUPER long time. I honestly envision a scenario where Josh asks Brad if he wants to sit down and discuss an update and Brad just doesn't feel like dealing with it at that time so we keep the status quo...
I mean obviously it hasn't affected success and recruiting, however when I see most of our new recruits they're almost always wearing one of our two throwbacks. To me that says a lot to what the kids prefer to wear. I know we've said this a million times over, but it's not hard to get us great uniforms because all we have to do is just get the throwbacks in all three colors. I don't really care which one, just anything other than our default uniforms. I never thought however that the football team would be me progressive than our basketball team in terms of uniforms. I've really liked what the football team has done so far in terms of helmet variety and the 100 year throwbacks with the "leather" helmets were really something special. You know they're good when the Packers essentially just copy and pasted what we did. Hoping that basketball takes that step this season, with hopefully some '05 throwbacks.

Just dropping in a follow up from the football thread where the '05 team was celebrated Friday to let y'all know that I approached JDubs for a handshake and firmly (ie: not totally soberly) demanded that he ask Nike for '05 throwbacks.
Now, I don't know if his reaction was genuine or not...because I'd been tailgating for a couple hours....but he laughed and said that was a great idea and he would mention it. To who? I guess the coaches and/or Nike?
So...I'm not sure I buy that my interaction with him was his first consideration of this subject...which means he was laughing my silly demand off....or slyly suggesting it was already in the works.
I'll let Loyalty be the judge....but know this....if it happens I will be taking 60% of the credit.

I guess everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, but surely you'd take us wearing the Script every game if the alternative was our default 1LL1NO1S uniforms, right?

I noticed in one of the photos that Dee Brown was wearing an Illini basketball quarter zip that had a 20 year anniversary patch similar to the 100 year patches they wore during that '05 season. You can see it on his right arm in the photo. Being the uniform geek I am I'm hoping this is a hint to us bringing back the '05 uniforms. However, it could also be nothing at all and I'm just overthinking it. New practice jerseys that is.
I think we get new practice jerseys every year but what is kind of interesting about this is that, at least since Ayo's freshman year, we've exclusively used the ILLINOIS font on our practice jerseys. These sport a new Fighting Illini word mark.
