Illini Basketball Uniforms

They looked great on the court, although I would have preferred the orange ones as a TV viewer looking at that abomination of a blue court.

Yeah, in hindsight it seems like the ideal move would have been to rock the new orange Script set at MSG (both because of the visually offensive court and UConn's colors in general) and the navy Flyin' Illini set in Nashville (mostly due to Tennessee also being orange).

I thought we were playing in camouflage uniforms, it looked like nobody showed up.

(ducks) ;)

I just hope we get to see them again. Not call them jinxed after one loss and put them away for another four years. 🤪

Northwestern has a strategy of matching uniforms to their opponents when they're the home team, like trotting out the black and gold against Purdue.

I agree, but we wore white Script for the Loyola disaster, we wore orange Flyin’ Illini for the worst loss in program history vs. Duke, we wore regular orange for the 30-0 UConn run, we wore regular white when Maryland embarrassed us on our home floor last year…

… we’d have to get new uniforms constantly!

I'll go ahead and say it although I'm sure some of you are thinking it as well...

orange script uniforms needed white lettering
&
navy throwbacks needed orange lettering

There - I said it.

In theory, I agree with you on the orange lettering for the navy throwbacks.

However, the DIA appears to have wanted to remain true to the overall designs of how these uniforms looked when originally worn - or at least the most recognized versions. On the case of the navy 1980s throwback, that’s without question the 1989 version with the white lettering. I can 100% respect that stance.
