Not to be greedy after all the new versions we've gotten this year, but what a great time to debut the white Fighting Illini on Thursday!
Agreed, as I want it as soon as possible ... but if we were to get that this year, I would bet it would be for a relatively hyped up home game on either a weekend, a major network or vs. a very noteworthy opponent (and of course any combination of the above!). And that leaves these options, IMO:
(1) Sunday, February 15 vs. Indiana (12:00 pm on CBS)
(2) Friday, February 27 vs. Michigan (7:00 pm on FOX)
I'm pretty sure we posted about both the Orange Script and Navy Flyin' Illini debuts on social media 2-3 days before those games, so I suppose we could be on the lookout around February 12 or February 24! You could substitute "2005 Throwback" for "White Flyin' Illini" and my prediction would be the same, though we probably wouldn't debut an
orange 2005 set vs. Indiana. I've posted about this before, too, but if we are going to get the last "missing" throwback in addition to the White Flyin' Illini - the Navy Script - I would have guessed at Nebraska was an excellent possibility, but I doubt that's coming as early as this week. So, these would be my guesses if we were to get that one:
(1) Saturday, February 7 at Michigan State (7:00 pm on FOX)
(2) Saturday, February 21 at UCLA (7:00 pm on FOX)
Both would have nice little windows of days before where we could hype them up. Of course (and once again acknowledging that the single most likely option is we don't get an additional uniform this season), they could totally surprise us and wait until the postseason to throw one out there. I know this post is about to get long and go into rambling territory, but in a world where we got just one more uniform, I think I would want the White Flyin' Illini. We already have two great orange options. We have a great navy option, and that is just statistically going to be the color that we wear the least. So, I would want one additional white option to take some of the burden off of the White Script, and I would rather keep going with the two great looks we already have in the arsenal than introduce a third one (i.e., the 2005 set) just because. Obviously, though ... a 2005 throwback would be awesome, lol.
With that said ... this would be my dream scenario this year in a universe where we can be pretty greedy but maybe not greedy enough to ALSO get a 2005 throwback!

FTR, if we did get a 2005 throwback ... I think you wait until the BTT or First Round of the NCAA Tournament to bust it out as a good luck charm for the postseason.
New uniform reveals are accompanied with this emjoi, lol -
White Script vs. Washington
Navy Script at Nebraska ... Just makes too much sense given how hyped the game will be and the color schemes!
Orange Flyin' Illini vs. Northwestern ... I'd like to see us wearing orange more at home again, using it as a true alternate.
Orange Script at Michigan State
White Script vs. Wisconsin
White Flyin' Illini vs. Indiana ... Weekend CBS game vs. an old rival, perfect time!
Navy Flyin' Illini at USC
Orange Flyin' Illini at UCLA
Orange Script vs. Michigan ... Would also be fine with any other non-navy uniform here, but I like a color rush game.
White Script vs. Oregon
Navy Script at Maryland
[Assuming we are the #1 seed in the BTT, naturally!]
White Flyin' Illini in Friday BTT Quarterfinals ... Emphasize that we are the home team whenever we play at the United Center!
Orange Flyin' Illini or
White Flyin' Illini in Saturday and Sunday BTT games ... Just depends on color combinations but never navy at the UC.
[Also assuming we are a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament since we can't stop winning!]
White Script in NCAAT First Round game
Orange Script in NCAAT Second Round game ... If colors don't allow, back to the White Script.
White Flyin' Illini or
Orange Flyin' Illini in NCAAT Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight games ... Adopting these two as our go-to United Center uniforms.
Orange Script in the NCAAT Final Four ... Hopefully this works with colors, because this uniform is just a beauty and very "us," IMO.
For the National Championship Game? I could be convinced of any option, TBH ... with that said, something just feels appropriate about wearing one of the three Flyin' Illini uniforms to avenge that team's near miss.
