I think everyone will be really happy with how the roster is going to shape up. I am very confident in us landing someone who's not in the portal yet as well.

From what I have gathered-at least 3 transfers

Staff expects Coleman back

Shannon up in the air-if he gets an early second guarantee he's gone-will be interesting

We will land an ELITE point guard. Going to like who it is (Think it could be 3 different guys-one of which is not in the portal-maybe 2)

Looking for another guard to pair with the point. Will likely be someone who can shoot really well

Staff wants another big-a couple names to watch:

Another wing will be added as well, even if Shannon comes back. Again, emphasis on shooting/scoring with solid defense

Think we may get our first commit next week. By the end of the month will we likely have 2-3 guys already committed and then we will see on the nba guys

Buckle up everyone....going to be a FUN ride the next month or so.

I hope this means Hawk and TSJ are back. If they are with the few others we have returning we should be solid. I am confident we will find players to fill the PG spots and a big.
One thing I heard BU mention that I am curious about is the benefit of transfers vs high school players is they are much less likely to leave because they have to sit. Coaches are going to be after transfers with multiple years of eligibility remaining. Of those we are looking at I wonder how many have multiple years remaining?

If I had to guess, I think at least two of the transfers will be multiple year guys. One of them (who's really good) would just be here for a year. But damn it would be worth it
If you know, I'm curious how the staff thinks through the tradeoff between perhaps a better and more ready to plug-and-play transfer with one year left versus a player who doesn't project to make the 2023-24 quite as good but has multiple years remaining.

Seems like a very difficult question.

If I'm our coaching staff, I think I'm basically done bringing in freshman PGs, hoping they develop quickly enough that they can provide meaningful leadership on the floor, and then hoping they stick around for multiple seasons to make those aforementioned investments worthwhile.

If PGs are the straw that stirs the drink in college basketball, then bring in the best darn straw you can every year and build the drink around that.

Sure we need to go after top high school players and hope they stay. However, recruiting top transfers with multiple years remaining could impact our success about as much as anything with NIL. Thanks for the info!

Agree. PGs are the new QBs. I forgot where I read it but some crazy % of top HS QB prospects wind up transferring so even if you land one, the odds of him sticking around long enough for you to reap the fruits of his development are low. Better of building through the portal with guys who are ready to contribute now ideally with multiple years of eligibility remaining.
