As a too soon to guess, 14-6 in conference, 8-3 out of conference (no idea who we will be playing). 22-9 before post season.

Absolutely ridiculous that we don't play Iowa twice every year. That developed into one of the more heated rivalries in the conference during the last half decade, and it has a ton of history. Considering how many protected games there are in football for a nine game schedule (Iowa has three by itself!!), a 20-game Big Ten schedule should have way more than what I presume are only Indiana/Purdue, Michigan/MSU, UCLA/USC, (possibly) Washington/Oregon and (unfortunately) Illinois/Northwestern.

Yes. No more covid seniors, which is a huge part of that. Also think the freshman class isn't as good. There were only 20-25 "big time" transfers, and I think we got one of those guys plus returned two who would have fit under that category. So just not as many teams are as deep/talented.
Was the European strategy a multi-year strategy that was predicated or at least supported in theory by the end of Covid Seniors?

I do think Purdue is the favorite next year, but I still might take the field.

IMO they were at least one player short this year. They counted on one of Heide or Colvin to step up and be a reliable fourth option to their big 3. Neither did and now both are gone.

They lose Furst but get Jacobson back and add Cluff. They likely upgraded here. But at least last year Jacobson looked like he needed at least a year of physical development to be an impact player. And while I like Cluff’s game, he was pretty so so at Washington State. It looked like he benefitted from being bigger and stronger than his competition at SDSU. Although he did have 21 and 15 against Bama so who knows. I do question the fit of those 2 next to TKR though…IMO they may have been better off getting a stretch big to create space for Smith and TKR to operate in the PnR.

As far as guards/wings, both Cox and Harris were productive as freshmen. Maybe one or both of them take a leap next year but IMO neither has the ceiling of Colvin or Heide. And Mayer looks really good but he is a frosh and as we saw last year hard to count on a frosh to consistently contribute.

All of which is to say, I still think they are a guard/wing short. And while they will be better at the 5, I wonder if that hurts TKRs game a bit by clogging the lane. Think they will still lean on Smith to play 37+ minutes per game and IMO he wore down towards the end of the year.

They will be very good but I think we can give them a run if our pieces come together.

I'm looking forward to what could be the BEST season in the BU era.........

Assuming we conquer the DON'T list'
* Don't lose to mizzery
* Don't lose games to teams we should beat
* Don't let teams come into OUR HOUSE and win
* Don't let illness or unforeseen circumstances throw a monkey in the wrench
* Don't have a craptacular defense

(Hi FOTN 👋)
My crazy schedule idea: Save the last 2 weeks for the last 3 games unscheduled in conference. Play 17 games in conference, one against each opponent. Then, based on the standings after 17 games, schedule those last 3 as return games for teams 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, and 13-18, with that last game being an effective "tournament play-in" for 13-18 so the 3 winners on the last day advance to the last 3 spots in the B1G tournament.

I both hate and love it.

Here's how I am viewing roles right now:

Stars/Go to scorers:
Tomi
Andrej

Trent Frazier Role-Great 3rd option with good defense:
Kylan

Guys who are capable of going for 20 on a given night:
Petrovic-Could be leader in assists
Big Z
Mirkovic

Glue Guy:
Ty

Role players:
Ben
Jake
Lee (Will get the least amount of minutes)

Very good roster. Tomi, Andrej, Kylan all should be all league guys if not more, Petrovic and Big Z have that upside as well. With the age, talent, and experience, I have high expectations for this group. Second weekend minimum, but they have a chance to do something special. That's what you want going into every season.

Andrej very crafty and deadeye playing bootyball. Maybe not as strong as Marcus but still very effective. I am sure this is one of reasons Brad had him as #1 target.

His in the paint game will be nice balance to big Z and Tomas bombing 3 pointers. Andrej is also nice rebounder like KJ. Blocks a surprising number of shots. Nice handles.

Not many assists but maybe he did not have the teamates. With Mirkovic, Tomas, Big Z and Ty there might be some good assist opportunities.

18 teams for a 20 game schedule
3 home and away = 6 games
15 teams left.... And you try not to play with yourself 😁
So 14 teams left you play once =14 games

6 + 14 = 20 games. Playing with yourself optional
Nice explanation.

I think many are WAY under-estimating how good our new Euro guys are going to be.
And, likely, and equal number are WAY over-estimating how good our new Euro guys are going to be. /s
