Roger Powell is the Associate Head Coach for one of the more respected up-and-coming coaches in the sport, and he's been with him for six years now. He's not leaving that for the third spot on our bench.

100% agree. I was simply answering the question of which alum would be qualified.

Pics from the early morning flight. Also said that BU gave him a good tip on a reataraunt in the Grand Caymans

And checking out 1 signed that he hasn't visited yet.

Man, if I was making BU type money, I wouldn't be flying in effing steerage.

You never said where in Florida the flight was headed.

I get that. I wanted to know what city in Florida...Tampa would be Kiir. I'm hoping we get back in.

They might start trashing UI basketball in the media.

Who in the media, outside of C-U, DOESN'T trash UI basketball [football]? It's only recently that I've read/seen positive pieces on us. It's been... kinda weird. To their credit, when haven't we deserved it?

Hiring Josh Whitman is like rolling down the windows after your last couple AD's farted in a small car, in the dead of winter, after a long, long drive from a far away burrito festival. It's refreshing.

Disturbingly apt

Why is there so much hate for Walker now? I mean he did technically almost land Tilmon...

Were there better options people had in mind? The attitude has become "he is such a terrible coach" all the sudden.

I think there is really only one person here hating on Walker.

Just saw some other discussions in recruiting thread talking about "we got played" "B/U got played...it would look desperate to replace him in a week"

Like just making it sound like Walker wouldn't be here no matter what if B/U did think he could land Tilmon.. but I suppose that could be true

I don't think there's a single person here who knows whether or not that is actually true. No one here has a magic window into Whitman's or Underwood's minds. Some people are just speculating and assuming.

I think it made all the sense in the world to keep Walker. Obviously it sucks to lose Tilmon. Losing Smith will suck too but he was never a commit and with MSU and Kentucky pushing hard, we could never assume he was definitely coming here.

Keeping Walker was about more than keeping Tilmon and hoping to land Smith. We also have 3 other commits we need to keep in the fold, and need a coach that is very well respected in St. Louis for future recruiting.

You guys give up guessing already? Since someone posted it, Coleman is the back up plan.

I don't think people consider everything to be perfect right now given the Tilmon decommitment and the Smith MSU/Kentucky news. That being said, it's a little bit of an overreaction to act like the only reason Walker was kept was for Tilmon and with the decommit both BU and Whitman got played. Maybe the guys with the biggest impact in bringing in a top 10 recruiting class has some value? Maybe he brings more to the table then just one top 30 recruit going forward? But I'm sure Whitman and BU put all their faith in Walker related to the whims of an 18 year old kid that has been pretty wishy-washy his entire recruitment.
