He’s not exactly playing against bad defenders where he is. Dallas and Houston football(probably Athletics in general) are like 1a/1b
Yes, even more of a reason it’s surprising that he wasn’t even on the recruiting radar

That team that played in the state championship game had a very good defenseFIFY.
This speed and height is nfl caliber. Add hands and route running, he is easily a draft pick.
From what I have read. He basically wins every jump ball and is great at making adjustments. I wonder how that changes against good defenders. But talk about him and beason going at it every day, they will both improve tremendously
YeahSometimes one has to be lucky to be good. We got a keeper.
I wonder if the other three runners on that relay would be interested in playing football for Illinois. This is the 39.99 4x100. Campbell is running anchor. He’s just coasting after a bit but he’s still pulling away from people. Legit speed. Catch him in stride on a pass route and he should be able to pull away.

Robert on illiniboard is not as excited as me. He said that Campbell has 1 year of football and is a risk. He is worried he won’t know how to create separation. I believe that you can teach how to create separation easier than you can teach speed. If this one works out, I may start a competing blog
Run fast in a straight line, catch ball, td. (Obviously not that simple but nice to have a guy defenses have to respect their ability to blow the top off the defense)

Well you can teach route run which can help cause separation. If he just started playing football than you can teach him that route. We got a player that if he had Malik to start that season he probably be at sec school. He got offer by Houston in track and Houston is one of the best track teams in the country so speed is legit. Man it will be watch him and beason, cumby, Corbin, and Nate and Carlos with the breakaway speedRobert on illiniboard is not as excited as me. Couple ideas. If he doesn’t pan out at WR he can always
1) switch to corner
2) put 20lbs on him and move him to safety
3) add 35 lbs and move to TE
RANDOM DREAM SCENARIO: put 50 lbs on him and make him a 6’4 240lb linebacker with blazing speed a la a previous Lovie LB

I’ve always thought that a team should take a flyer each year on a track star even if they don’t have a lot of football experience - also because of Bob Hayes.

Anyone hear anything on the Brandon Peters visit this weekend? Would be a really great get.
Great to hear. He may not be a perfect fit, but he is lightyears ahead of what we're at right now. Him coming here would make me feel a lot more comfortable predicting a bowl game this season.Staff says his visit went well. They believe he's all in & that he'll join the Illini.
Not the best fit for our system, but Rod is confident we can use him.
He a veteran that played in a bowl game. He gonna be huge in the leadership department.Great to hear. He may not be a perfect fit, but he is lightyears ahead of what we're at right now. Him coming here would make me feel a lot more comfortable predicting a bowl game this season.
