Trying to temper expectations. It has been such an exciting off-season. They will be better than last year, but I'm trying not to get my head over my skis.

To go 6-6 I think we need to win all the W's below and to steal one of the ?'s. I think we have an outside shot to win any of the ?'s but sadly I do not see us winning any of the L's. This assumes we win all the games I believe we have a good shot to win though too, so I cannot in good faith bet any of my sand castles on 6-6. Either way I can't wait to see what this new coaching staff can do with all our returning players and behind this O-Line. Very excited for the future.

@Penn State would be impressive. Don’t see that one happening but I think we beat Purdue.

For some time I've had this gut feeling that this year will be like Mike White's first year. BB reminds me of White in so many ways. That team got blown out in three games where we did not have the talent to compete but the other 4 losses were by 7 or less and we were in those till the very end. You could see we were so much more of a professional looking team than under Moeller.

This schedule is a little weaker but the big ten was a weaker conference in 1980, only PU, OSU and UM were top shelf teams then. Also we have a huge number of 5th year seniors. This could be a fun year. In 1980 we played Purdue at home in front of almost 57,000, the fan base could see things were changing.

That Nebraska game will be a good litmus test IMO, hopefully it sets a good tone to the season. Kind of happy it is at home instead of Ireland with a new coaching staff in place. I'm impressed BB kept so many super seniors with that enticing Ireland piece taken off the table as well. With so many vets on the team any noticeable improvement should be mostly attributed to the staff. Not a lot of lost freshman progressing out of sheer experience with this group.

W at Penn State? I think that will be our toughest game of the year. They are ranked #10 on the ESPN preseason rankings.

I was really hoping that with competent coaching, a bye for both teams, but us being right before OSU they might be looking ahead and not preparing for us as much as we are preparing for them and we sneak out a trap game win.

I think we win 7 and at least 3 guaranteed losses. Iowa seems to be retooling as well as Minnesota so putting those as toss ups. I think we can win Purdue, Rutgers and Northwestern as they too are in need of some depth and replacing key players.

What about Edwin Carter? I remember in January that there was chatter he was coming back, but there is no update in the portal and he isn't showing up on the roster yet.
