Beat Iowa.

I got mocked when I said 8-4 was doable and 10-2 was on the table.

I got mocked when I said Illinois would lead 31-10 heading to the 4th and win comfortably against Wisky

Other than Michigan, there's no team remaining that I don't think we should beat. Win the next two at home and we control the West.

This defense is legit . Not just keeping us in games, but winning games great. The offense is getting more confidence each week.

But. all that matters right now is 10/08/22. Beat Iowa. Like they stole our lunch money. Like they humiliated us 63-0 4 years ago. Like they are the school that derailed our national championship in basketball. Like they are [expletive deleted] Iowa.

Mocked? I didn’t scroll through entire thread, but I saw one comment total to your above two statements. Good call on the WI score by the way. Beat Iowa.

Maybe some dramatic license ;)

Now, let’s murder Iowa.

So, leave it to me to find a note of pessimism, and two spring to mind

1. We still might not have played anybody. That sure felt like the wheels falling off the Paul Chryst era, what a catastrophe of a performance

2. We may have the B1G West by the short and curlies, just a couple of months away from this hilariously weak golden opportunity disappearing forever

Absolutely right on point one.

Right on point 2. We're likely to face just one ranked team all year. So we're getting set up for possibly being over rated going into the bowls. At the same time we've got some talent and a head of steam so a lot is possible.

My point three would be that we picked the perfect time to revive the program. Capitalize in the portal and you can sustain the momentum easier than in years past.

Looking at our schedule, other than Michigan, I'm not sure we are actually going to play anyone. We could not ask for a better remaining schedule. As an optimist, I can't help but see the light of our first double-digit win season in 21 years glowing in the distance. Please don't let us squander this.

I know it’s silly to feel pessimistic about the rest of season, but I’m more worried about games like MSU Purdue and Nebraska now for some reason. But I think I’m just not used to the pressure of Illinois being in such a driver’s seat position. But if there’s something this team is showing it’s that they will come out and out-execute it’s opponent week in and week out. This wasn’t a fluke win like during the Lovie era. We crushed Wisconsin yesterday because we are that solid. If we can keep that up, man oh man we are going to be loving life.

Related to the second point I saw a comment on another site that said its our turn to get blown out in the conference championship game 🤣 I will happily accept that honor.

Is Keith Randolph Jr. appearing on NFL Draft radars yet? He's technically listed as a "4th year Sophomore". Would obviously love to have him for longer but he is having such a productive season that it would be awesome to see him get an opportunity at the next level.
