Can anyone give me a list of other coaches who could win B1G coach of the year award and I should not feel outraged that BB wasn't selected? I guess it's going to have to go to the IU guy bc of their year, but any other year it's a landslide vote for BB, right?

Unless there is an absolutely shocking upset on Saturday, Cignetti's going to get this award. He's been the media darling all season.

Bielema is suffering from the Underwood situation. Building a sustainable program slowly may get you a hypothetical Coach of the Decade award, but it won't win you a "real" Coach of the Year over a one-year wonder story.

Does anyone know what has happened to Malik Elzy? Is he injured? He's a quality receiver with size and speed. He's got good hands and is a strong route runner. should be an important cog in our offense.

Injured. And maybe I’m mistaken, but hasn’t he had drop issues in limited opportunities?

Ankle is what I heard, but I’ve also read knee. I believe he has practiced a little.

Florida State wide receiver (former Illini) Deuce Spann has entered the transfer portal. FSU is 2-9 this year. Imagine if Deuce stayed with Illinois, most likely all Big Ten wide receiver.

Yeah what Cignetti has done is one of the most remarkable single-year coaching jobs I've ever seen, but if you swapped Indiana's results with USC or Michigan, Bielema would have my vote for BTCOY.

Lovie Smith went 10-34*

Bill Cubit went 2-6

Tim Beckham went 4-20

*adding a loss from the interim coach

2012 through 2020, Illinois went 16-60 in Big Ten Games. Illinois has two more Big Ten wins in four years under Bielema than in the nine seasons prior.

Bielema has done exactly what I think everyone was hoping for when he was hired. He's brought Illinois to a point of respectability in his four seasons. That's the most important thing

And really a few whiskers away from being quite a bit better than .500 and a B1G championship appearance. We couldn't ask for much more. Thank you Bret.
I'm 42 and before he got here I was staring down the barrell of maybe seeing another 140 illini wins on Saturday if I made it to 77. Again, thank you Bret.
