The timing of the announcement makes it seem like it was the most positive way of saying that he is opting out of the bowl game. He could have simply waited until after the season to declare, so I believe it is about a 95% certainty that Bryant will not play in the bowl game.
I know that it's wishful thinking. He said "1 more to go" right after the NW game. But I do understand...he has to do what's best for him and his future.

Looking ahead to 2025, the reseating process requires the iFund donation by March 1. However, season ticket sales don’t open until April, so we’re now expected to donate before knowing whether we can even get seats we like. The old “right of first refusal” process made renewing season tickets very compelling. Additionally, IIRC past iFund donations and ticket purchases could be made concurrently. Why separate them? I’m not sure I’m willing to donate before knowing my ticket options. We might go back to occasional single game tickets when the weather and seating availability are known. Sad. We would have continued renewing indefinitely, since we live just 90 minutes away. Am I alone in seeing the disjointed process as a problem?

You're certainly not alone. But, it’s not the way the system is going to work any longer. You pay Illinois, Illinois pays the players. Pay to play, regardless of what anyone says. Illinois is going to reward those who pay, cashola is what the program needs.

Reseating won’t be done again until 2031. I suppose, technically, someone could drop a load this year and then keep those seats until 2031. Just pay for the ticket and priority seating contribution(PSC) for future years. That doesn’t help Illinois remain competitive but….. I want to see Illinois remain competitive with salaries for the coaches and players.

I personally am contributing more simply because I prefer it going to the players vs. admin costs. Speaking of which, I believe Illinois now subs out some of work in the DIA. Your reps, I don’t believe, are Illinois employees. At least at a low level like me.😒 They represent Illinois but work for a 3rd party. I do see they use salesforce software, I suppose a good thing in tracking supporters, their history, and their oddities. So, they’ve reduced admin cost in that respect. The Fat Cats still get personalized real Illinois employee treatment (as they should).

I'll deal with my seating when it's my turn in line, for better or worse.

Iowa cleans up the mediocrity playing boring, sound defensive football and let teams make mistakes over 4 quarters.
what a boring brand of football to watch week after week. They are lucky that fanbase puts up with that crap.
winning 14-10 or 17-14 football games, is hardly worth the investment in time and money

Key word...
Slightly outdated, but their average attendance from 2018-2022 approached double what ours was (54k to 30k). Of course, that was during the Lovie experiment. These numbers must be actual attendance because we advertise better attendance than that in our literature.

https://collegefootballnews.com/ran...ance-rankings-2023-five-year-program-analysis

Both teams have improved their attendance since then, but Iowa still outdraws us by a significant margin. Kinnick's capacity is about 8k larger than Memorial Stadium, so we aren't likely to catch them anytime soon.

I would rather win 9-6 than lose 42-35. They win with great defense and special teams. As long as the offense doesn’t turn the ball over they find a way to win.

A guy brought this to my office today. He said it’s been in his garage for 40 years and he thought I might like it…

yea
but i would simply rather win 28-14 than win 9-6. that may bring fans into Iowa City, but we won’t bring 60,000 fans to our house playing that

that’s all

Thank you for this. Really well done and a true pleasure to roll back through some of the best moments of what has absolutely been a special and memorable season!
Indeed. Great job on this. Super fun to watch. All folks on this thread need to spend the 20 minutes watching this. Super fun to take in all of our highlights.

Many Iowa fans (my brother, and Ia. alum included) cant WAIT to see the Ferenz era over. Last game against Nebraska, they had FIVE first downs, 160 total yards, 20 minutes of possession (in a 60 minute game),gave up 500 yards, and WON on a last second field goal, 13-10. Sure Iowa is used to winning most games, but THAT'S winning ugly. They finished 8-4, to our 9-3...
Ferenz will probably come back for one more year because he's only one game behind Woody Hayes in total wins. Even if they win their bowl game, he'll only be tied. My brother wants him out NOW... and so do I! I HATE the way he recruits Illinois!

Be careful what you wish for. They don’t play a sexy brand of football but they find ways to win games. Look how it’s worked for Wisconsin going from smash mouth football to air raid.
