Some RB's are in the portal right? i just saw a real good one was in there, but didn't pay attention to it much because i thought we were fine.

Smart move by McCray. This is probably his last year to get paid playing football (don’t see the NFL in his future) AND he should have graduated this year, so go on the market get the highest bid.

Based on the numbers that Illinois needs to "shed" more players than they add, so I doubt they add a running back with Laughery, Feagin, Valentine all ready to take meaningful carries plus Ball, Forster, and Wyche for emergency depth.

Not fun. Maybe the depth chart wasn’t shaking out in his favor? Maybe that’s just copium on my part. Sucks to lose him.

This is maybe the most important season in decades for Illini football. He's leaving a playoff contender where he will get lots of carries and is an injury away from being the premierback. Gotta be a big money offer to make him leave, right?

Just when I was starting to enjoy the football board more than the basketball board.......

That's the thing. It's why I cannot be upset with the kid himself. I am upset he's leaving, but I am in no position to judge him for it. If he can make another $100k somewhere else, you have to seriously consider it. I have no idea what the number is or might be. It's just an example.

Credit to Illinois football. This transfer hits just about as hard as any we've had in basketball for me. We've come a long way, baby.
Sucks but don't be too shook up about it. He was only going to get rotational carries here and probably wants to just see what he can do elsewhere. I was hoping for big things for him seeing he's Bielema's first recruit but I'm just realizing the modern cfb game just isn't like that anymore.

I was just a fan. We went into SEC country and grabbed him. He’s stuck it out through a decent amount of hardship. And the best version of him is an absolute truck. I have no doubt we will be fine, but I’ll miss seeing him in the orange and blue.

Wow....that one hurt's...time for the obligatory press release..."...I love Illinois, I love my time here, no place would I rather be...this is a great place to play football"

Agreed. And I never did buy that story that all 4 RB's support one another and love sharing the ball in order to stay fresh. Too much $$$ on the line to truly be one big happy family.
