Not to be pessimistic, but I have a hard time understanding how we’re only one place behind Oregon, who thoroughly mopped the floor with us last fall. Unless there’s a hard cliff after the top 9. I don’t know enough about other teams but they were a lot more than just a couple of pieces graduating.
Probably because they lost a TON, a great group to the NFL and we returned 75%+ of our roster....most notably our QB

As I have stated before , we have the best MBB , WBB and FB coaches at the same time in my lifetime.........These 3 coaches will not be outworked or take any shortcuts in achieving their goals..........

The lean years of 63-0 defeats in FB or the less than mediocre results from late Weber and Groce MBB teams are fading fast in my memory.....not fully gone but forgotten for now in this era of exuberance and expectations.......

It's great being an Illini fanatic...................It really really is...........................

"Season tickets for the 2025 Illinois football season will go on sale to the general public on Thursday at 9 a.m. CT. Following the Illini ERA reseat, fewer than 800 sideline season tickets remain in locations throughout the stadium."

First, I am very excited by the idea that season ticket inventory could be sold out. That would be a significant milestone.

What I'm having trouble squaring is in the article above, it says "Over 32,000 season tickets have been sold through the Illini ERA reseat and season ticket deposits." But back in February, Tom Moreland, Chief Commercial Officer, UI Athletics said on the Saturday Sports Talk radio show and Illini Inquirer podcast that there were "nearly 37,000" season tickets in 2024. That was growth of almost 15,000 since 2022.

I wonder why the 32,000 quoted in the press release is so low. Certainly, season ticket sales are outpacing last offseason and more than offsetting (presumably limited) nonrenewals. Is it possible the press release is supposed to say 42,000? That feels more believable to me. Then if there are a few thousand more season ticket sales before single game tickets go on sale in the summer, that might leave single game ticket inventory at ~15,000.

Luke plays entire season without injury and improves on last year
Feagin " " "
Defense does not get shredded like in Purdue game
Somebody steps up to replace Pat Bryant as #1 receiver

Biggest games - @ Indiana, home vs USC, home vs OSU.

Is Indiana a 1 season wonder?
How good is USC?

I see us regular season going from floor of 8-4 to ceiling of 11-1. If Indiana can make the CFP our schedule could let us do the same!

I know we are Illinois, but if that were an actual betting line, one of the easiest overs ever.

You knew the golden rule and ignored it anyway! There's a >0% chance that Illinois is 3-4 going into the Washington game in Seattle.

Impossible to predict which Illini we're going to get, but things do feel different now. I'm still seeing anywhere from 4-8 to 11-1. If we can make it to OSU undefeated or with one loss, we should be a lock for the playoff, which is remarkable.
Who is saying 4-8? That's ludicrous. 7-5 seems like to me would be underperforming. Give me 1 1/2 over that 7.5 with another Bowl Win. Playoffs are not out of the question if a little luck is involved.
