in 2024, Illinois went 10-3. But they trailed in the 4th quarter of 8 total games. If you are behind in 8/13 games in the 4th quarter, the chances of going 10-3 is pretty low. Illinois will need to be a much much much better team in 2025 to replicate 2024’s record. I think lot of prognosticators are looking at the 10-3, with the returning starter count and just blindly saying “yep possible playoff team”. Without looking into the real numbers behind the 10-3 and how IL got that record.
Isn't this typical of a Bielema team? Seem to remember similar stats about his time at Arkansas - only his team was ahead by one score going into the 4th quarter.

I think all I really want is 7 regular season wins, and a bowl game. If we go 7-5, I'd like to win the bowl game. If we go 8-4 or better, the bowl game is just icing on the cake, and winning it would be an even bigger win.

Basically, 8-5 is my expectation - fair or not.

Illini Football Season Tickets Sold Out, Mini-Plans On Sale Thursday

"The Illinois football program has sold out of public season tickets for the first time in at least 20 years.

Illinois has sold over 34,000 public season tickets, which excludes students and premium seating numbers. The Fighting Illini's final season ticket total for kickoff against Western Illinois on Friday, Aug. 29, is expected to exceed 43,000."

To me, this is as stress-free as a season can get. All I’ve ever wanted out of Illinois football was competent leadership and a healthy program. We now have both.

My guess is, we’ll win 7-10 regular season games and make a solid bowl at minimum with an outside shot at a playoff birth.

I’m just happy to be here.
100%, except for the stress. Been a fan since the 80s and football might be in the best spot it's been in during that whole time. But, I'm still nervous.

At $175 per ticket that eliminates the Mini-Plan being in the horseshoe (must be saving solely for single game tickets).

I wonder if the Mini-Plan tickets will be in the upper rows of Section 204-206, the upper rows underneath the East Main overhang, or possibly all of section 102 which nothing has been made available yet.

Probably closer to the visitor's section. A large number of OSU fans will be buying those tickets

Could someone please enlighten me re: Arch Manning’s career accomplishments? Is he anything more than a name?
at this point in time , it’s anyone’s guess

I do expect him to be pretty good .

better than his uncles & gramps ? tough order

But the question is why this expectation? What’s he really DONE so far to earn a 4th place ranking? Beyond his name/family ties.

those are some pretty strong DNA ties

it’s in his blood . I would be shocked if he’s not at least pretty pretty good .

he has the measurables .

it’s not a guarantee tho

Last season he was 61/90 for 939 yards with 9 TDs and 2 picks. Not a big sample size, but not tiny (for comparison, Luke threw 347 attempts last year). He also had 25 carries for 108 yards and 4 tds. The list is obviously a projection, not a comparison of career accomplishments to date. With the glimpses he's shown so far in college, plus the measurables, I think it's pretty fair to project him to be a really good QB next year.

right now , at this point in time , I would take Luke over Arch for our team this season

but that doesn’t mean Arch won’t have better numbers by 12/1. but I think , right now , I would trade 1 year of Luke IF someone said you can have 2 years of Arch .

Luke’s our guy . we rise or fall with him

I’m not certain that eliminates the Horseshoe. I know it’s wild to think somebody would pay $175 for four games when they could have had seven for $98, but that’s the price of waiting I guess.

I could be wrong…we will find out tomorrow.

34k to the public (which doesn't include students or premium seating). Maybe another 10k if you include those.
Why would they cap it? What's the MS capacity? 65k?

The ILL-INI chant is great. I remember times in 1983 that it seemed loud enough to shake the press box. Particularly against Michigan. Let's do it again!

Just slightly over 60k. With students and premium seats you are talking 43-44k. That leaves 16k or so, which has to include set aside tickets for visiting fans, Varsity I (former players, managers, etc.), and then individuals who will buy tickets for single games. It's a gamble of course for sellouts, but it also drives more revenue from single game prices vs. season tickets.

That’s explanation I’ve heard. It’s revenue management, just like airlines and hotels. The goal is to fully burden the asset while maximizing revenue. Season tickets are the base load while single game sales produce much of the profit. Early/longer commitment is rewarded while flexibility comes at a higher cost.
