Could someone please enlighten me re: Arch Manning’s career accomplishments? Is he anything more than a name?
I mean with that lineage for his name along with his quite good early returns and the fact that he was considered the top player in his graduating class, I'll be real, with the talent Texas returns, if he isn't playing like a Top 10 college QB and possibly even at least marginally considered for a Heisman, I'd be fairly shocked. Arch Manning should be phenomenal this year so long as he stays healthy.

That’s explanation I’ve heard. It’s revenue management, just like airlines and hotels. The goal is to fully burden the asset while maximizing revenue. Season tickets are the base load while single game sales produce much of the profit. Early/longer commitment is rewarded while flexibility comes at a higher cost.
Guess the obvious question is how do the other schools do it? Michigan and Ohio State do the same thing? If not, why not?

Is this price higher than season tickets in that area? $45/game seems decently high for upper deck while we are still building up a fanbase, though we will be a top-15 team so it is justified.

Last season he was 61/90 for 939 yards with 9 TDs and 2 picks. Not a big sample size, but not tiny (for comparison, Luke threw 347 attempts last year). He also had 25 carries for 108 yards and 4 tds. The list is obviously a projection, not a comparison of career accomplishments to date. With the glimpses he's shown so far in college, plus the measurables, I think it's pretty fair to project him to be a really good QB next year.
A good chunk of the fanbase, myself included (my secondary orange team), would rather have seen Arch than Ewers. Arch has that "it" factor.

Funny little sidebar story…currently on vacation on the East Coast (Tybee Island Georgia) and took the family on a dolphin-watching boat.

Wearing the colors of course.

First mate sees this, and as we exit the bay and enter the ocean, announces “on your left is the State of South Carolina. Which, as we all know, has a truly terrible football team”.

That’s how you earn a nice gratuity.

Was Pillar PSU's QB against us last year? iirc he got a lot of hype but wasn't all that impressive in our game.
It was Aller and he wasn’t that impressive.

As we give thanks this weekend for our nation, our freedom, and the staggering sacrifices of those who created and have preserved it over 250 years, let's also take a moment to realize that, as Illini football fans, 2025 feels like every day is Thanksgiving, and we're still three months from the season kickoff.

Our long-term prospects, and I'm talking simply about consistent competitiveness sustained through ethical leadership and executive excellence, haven't looked this good in my lifetime.

Bask in it, friends, and enjoy the weekend. :illinois:

similar situation to Chris Simms when he was at Texas. The family pedigree, measurable physical talent, passes the eye test, but we’ll find out if he’s really that good, pretty good, or just an ok college qb. Doubt he’ll be a flop in college.

My $ is on him being pretty good, but he’ll finish his career with people having wanted more.

Looking back Simms at UT was mostly a pretty good/ok college qb, didnt live up to the hype but wasn’t bad either.

If DNA was destiny, you’d think either Jefferey or Marcus Jordan would have followed Dad’s footsteps to the NBA. How many sports greats have following generations succeed like them? It’s relatively rare, in percentage terms. That’s why it seems premature to rank Arch so high with so little evidence of greatness relative to his peers. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. We’ll have to wait and see.

Jeffrey and Marcus weren’t 5* recruits like Arch was. I get maybe questioning the assumption that he’s going to be really good, but let’s not act like he hasn’t shown the potential throughout high school and when he’s gotten chances to play at Texas.

Agreed. It’s the premature ranking that seems odd. Others aren’t ranked based on potential, but on proven performance. Wait and see, then rank.
