What effect will the Taylor-Travis engagement have on the 2025 football season of the Fighting Illini? Please discuss so we can shake it out...

It was NFL cut day so taking a look at who played in the Citrus Bowl. We had 0 players from that game make an NFL roster with TeRah, Zakhari, and Seth getting cut. So let's take a look at the players and their snaps counts for South Carolina in the Citrus Bowl who made an NFL roster today.

Drafted Players:
Tonka Hemingway DT, No. 135 overall to Las Vegas Raiders 4th round - 47 snaps played
Demetrius Knight Jr. LB, No. 49 overall to Cincinnati Bengals 2nd round - 46 snaps played
TJ Sanders DT, No. 41 overall to the Buffalo Bills 2nd round - 44 snaps played
Nick Emmanwori, No. 35 overall to the Seattle Seahawks - 22 snaps played (none in the 2nd half)

UDFA:
Torricelli Simpkins G, New Orelaens Saints - 47 snaps played
Bam Martin-Scott LB, Carolina Panthers - 19 snaps played
Gage Larvadain WR, Cleveland Browns - 13 snaps played

Cut but keep an eye on:

O’Donnell Fortune CB, Cut by the Giants - 59 snaps played
Josh Simon TE, Cut by the Falcons - 63 snaps played

All in all we had a 90% PGWE vs a team that had 7 NFL players play in the game and four of those guys with over 44 snaps.

How cool is it to be excited about the start of the season because we know we're going to have a good team, and not simply because we're looking forward to football?

Wondering how good a bowl you can get to, or even if you can get into the playoff, is much different than wondering if you won't be horrible, and whether or not you can find a way to squeeze 6 wins out of a pedestrian schedule and make it to the Taco Tuesday Bowl in Scranton, PA.

So, assuming USC sells out, excluding the opener against WIU we’ll have 3 straight sellouts (WMU, USC, OSU) out of the gate.

If we can get out of Washington with a 7-1 record (or 6-2 but coming off a win at Washington) I think there’s a legitimate chance to sell out the rest of the year with the favorable remaining schedule.

I'm assuming a win at Duke and a win against USC would both trigger a solid sales bump further down the schedule.

I was an undergrad at UIUC in the late seventies, you are understating how bad things were not too long ago IMO. Back then we looked forward to winning maybe a couple of games at most.

I am thoroughly enjoying the Bret difference!

13:30 -

(now this is no guarantee in regards to randolph, but the buzz seems very real)
Off-seasons without a potential QB battle have been wonderful these last couple seasons. I'll miss this. Hopefully, we can catch lightning in a bottle again and get a good multiple year starter but that isn't a guarantee in this day and age of CFB.

Apparently we hired UNI coaching legend, Mark Farley, out of retirement 2 weeks ago. Announced by BB. Awesome!
what is the limit of people we are allowed to have up in the sky box ? they don’t have to be an official coach , do they ?
