We live in a timeline very close to one, maybe even in said timeline, where Maryland and Illinois are 7-2 and facing off with GameDay on site in mid-November.Maryland may actually be terrible, but they are undefeated and have a decently favorable schedule going forward. I think they ultimately drop at least 3 more but I think their odds of going 10-2 are way more than 2%. They have to have better odds than Washington, who already has one loss and also still has Oregon on the schedule.
Lol, can you imagine a CFP rematch with Indiana?? I don't know if we'd be able to take them down in Bloomington, to be honest ... but I would feel confident that we wouldn't get spanked again.
No Penn State? Indiana again - I hope not.
Penn State is a top 10 team with zero wins vs P4 opponents. No Penn State? Indiana again - I hope not.
he needs an int pick 6 or a fumble scoop& score to enter rare air
Given the suffering we endured in the stands in Bloomington two weekends ago, I would drive, nay walk, another 1200 miles round trip and sit in that stadium in freezing rain in December if redemption were a possibility. I badly need a palate cleanser for that (to quote Rosiek) "S*!t sandwich.".Lol, can you imagine a CFP rematch with Indiana?? I don't know if we'd be able to take them down in Bloomington, to be honest ... but I would feel confident that we wouldn't get spanked again.
(... then again, I was pretty confident we wouldn't get spanked the first time, so...)
As of now, if you look at the schedules, not saying we are a better team but I think our chances are better than Penn State's.Penn State is a top 10 team with zero wins vs P4 opponents.
Colin Cowherd blew a gasket in his latest podcast about Oregon. As usual he goes 60% of the time talking about USC. Melting down and calling Luke an average q.b. with average receivers. He was at the game. I guess he did not see Hank Beatty's catch on the sidelines. That was anything but average. He kept talking about how terrible their secondary was and then his co-host stated that USC did not play the same team that Indiana did. Credit to him. I hope we can use some of that as fuel going forward. Cowherd is such a USC homey. From an efficiency perspective, it's not even close. He leads in almost every meaningful statistical category that is viewing him over his career (at Illinois) work. At worst, he's on the Illinois QB Career Mount Rushmore.
Only 11 Illinois QBs have 700+ passing attempts, which creates a good cut-off of who's eligible for consideration: Scheelhaase, Kittner, Trudeau, Juice, Verduzco, Eason, Lunt, Altmyer, Beutjer, Johnny Johnson, and Jeff George.
