True in terms of their share of program revenue. However fans in seats are a vital part of the media production and team motivation. Think of them as part of the cast. Ticket revenue may not be important, but media revenue requires fans in the stadium. Try selling this!

Thank the Lord for Nebraska during this time. Best help they've ever been to the B1G in football.

Last week, I commented that Luke’s late game abilities remind me of Roger “Captain Comeback” Staubach. I checked the numbers. Over eleven NFL seasons (125 games), Staubach led the Cowboys to 17 comeback victories in the last two minutes or overtime. Over three college seasons (31 games), Luke has led the Illini to five comeback victories in the last one minute or overtime.

And oh, here are the college career stats. (Recall that Staubach’s 1963 performance won him the Heisman.)

According to the advanced metrics, we are currently the most underrated team in both football AND basketball:

- 9 according to KFord in football.
- 11 according to KenPom in basketball.

So, maybe they saw this comparison. 😄

I know most will opt out for the bowl game, but luke seems to be a very loyal person and i would be surprised if he opts out . Am i wrong ?

I haven’t really followed the draft rankings but surely Brett has had that conversation with him right?

If he has reason to believe Luke won’t play does he try to get whoever will replace him some reps? And who would replace him?

No. We have two games which are both very competitive. We focus on winning those games. We don’t sit one of the best, most important and most likable Illini (in any sport) of all-time.

We worry about the bowl game after the regular season.

Josh Whitman too.

Okay, maybe stubbed his toe on the Lovie experiment, but still.
While Lovie was not the coach that Bret is, he brought in talent that eventually improved the program, including what 20 NFL draft choices, including 3 first rounders? Not the coach we wanted, but we wouldn't be here today without having him as a coach from 2016-2020. I still think Whitman chose wisely.

Yeah, I’m not trying to knock him. I was on the Lovie train along with everyone else. It’s too bad it didn’t work out better.

The only three that would opt out would be Jacas, Davis and Luke. Both Jacas and Davis have dropped to third day picks. Luke could be a 4th rounder depending on a teams needs. I won pull think that all three would want national exposure that a bowl game gives.
