You need guys familiar with the system to coach it. Robby was a good player at Montana and also has a couple years experience at Portland state. I have no issue with him being hired to be the assistant safety coach. I still think Tim Hauck will come on the staff as an analyst.

I’m excited about the change, and I guarantee you Bret isn’t doing this just hoping it’s a good idea because he couldn’t get anyone else.

I think we’re going to surprise people next year with our defense.

I sure hope that the few 'doomsday' posters won't hijack this thread as they have done to others...

People assess the defense and assume their will be no changes. CBB understands P4 and B1G football. I believe their will be tweaks made that will address whatever run game deficiencies there may be.

BB pushing in all his chips on thiese defensive moves. Committed to Hauck's scheme and philosophy big time.

Man I hope we can stop a real Big10 running game.
in theory, if we have speed to run to the football, this defensive scheme should get more noses to the football.
3-3-5, spread guys out, be a moving target, run to the football. an advantage against oversized/ slow footed OL's
and dozens of blitz combinations. i hope.

Think he's going to be ready as a freshman due to enrolling early. LB in general should surprise people. Kreutz, think Beerman steps up big time, watch for Paris, Brown and Kante. Also again really like the freshman.

Again IMO Thomas will be ready. Williams has a chance to be Dana Howard like in the middle in his stature and how he plays. They've got some good pieces. Just always have to keep recruiting well.

No Spring game apparently. I heard they have to cut the grass inside Gies Memorial Stadium as the reason.

Wtf? Does he realize he is working for another big ten team and scum didn't have an opening for him?
They did have an opening for a recruiting visit chaperone though...nice pickup also...

I think that is exactly what he said.

Jeremy was recently saying that he thought we had the funds to compete. The problem is, we currently have the funds to compete in last year’s financial landscape, but last year’s financial landscape is very different than this year’s:

Seemed like it was the case given the departures and the inability to land obvious talent on defense. Illinois was value shopping to fill a number of spots.

I don't have an answer.
