Illini Football 2026

See if we can land a spot in the AP top 25 prior to the Ohio State game.

First 3 games will be especially fun to watch this year, a lot to take in.

if you like cupcakes, sure

(Mensah bolting hurts Duke bad, duh)

if we're not 3-0, that's a fail

hopefully, Lunney keeps it pure vanilla, then unleashes on the Buckeyes

Watching Houser take the field

New defensing scheme and coaches on the sideline

Feagin at TE

Learning the Receivers' tenancies and their usage/rotations

Valentine breakout year potential

New Kickers and Punters

Yes, I'm excited. Regardless of opponent, these 3 games will be full of intrigue.

A healthy Aidan Laughery would be about as good as it gets. :hailtotheorange:

Not a perfect set of predictions on my part earlier, but I did nail some key predictions for these first three games:

Week 1: Thursday Night correct; wrong network
Week 2: FS1 correct; wrong kickoff time
Week 3: Peacock correct; wrong kickoff time

Week 1: UAB 7:00 (close enough) FS1 (Thursday Night)
Week 2: Duke 11:00 FS1
Week 3: Southern Illinois 7:00 Peacock
Week 4: @ Ohio State 2:30 CBS
Week 5: Purdue 11:00 BTN
Week 6: @ Michigan State 11:00 FS1
Week 7: Bye
Week 8: Oregon 2:30 CBS
Week 9: @ Maryland 2:30 BTN
Week 10: Nebraska 11:00 FS1
Week 11: @ UCLA 9:30 BTN (LATE NIGHT FOOTBALL)
Week 12: Iowa 11:00 FOX
Week 13: @ Northwestern 11:00 FS1

What a brilliant idea to move the opener to Thursday so we can have less fans in the stands
I am sure that we have very little say in such a decision. We are at the mercy of the networks. Still, I look at it as glass half full where the country itching for football to begin will be tuning in to watch Illini football. 8 PM local kickoff though is tuff...

Glass half-full is that Duke time is amazing, I expect a great environment!

Pay back for Duke trying to punk Illinois last year with the schedule. Duke opens with Tulane on 9/5, FWIW.

2 years ago they played EIU on Thursday, followed by the memorable X game vs. Kansas on a Saturday.

Friday vacation days are excellent. Start your weekend Thursday night in Champaign, a flashback to college days.
