All illini are on the course. Looks like in general the front where we started is easier than the back but the back starts off ok and ends really tough. Overall a good start except for Trey who’s having a brutal time early. Really hope he can finish the round ok with some confidence we will need him soon just probably not today.

Ryan off to a great start.
The guys are -3 so far. Everyone but Trey birdied 2 and this has helped. They need to build up as many birdies as they can, because the back half of this course is slaughtering teams.
Max as well
We are -5, one back of OU but it’s still very early. Trey off to a bad start so hopefully he can turn his day around. Ryan -3 and Max -2.
2 doubles on par 5s already. Ouch. That’s mikes biggest pet peeve, to clarify I remember an interview where Mike stated and I’m paraphrasing you should never ever make a 7 in golf.
I think of this every year but I think ncaa golf is the dumbest overall of all ncaa sports. I don’t feel too bad for Stanford who’s won a ton of titles but after dominating stroke play they deserve some recognition and trophy same with Illinois last year or 2 of the previous years they’ve won stroke play
Trey sitting at +4 still while both JBs are at +1. No room for error right now while Max and Ryan are playing well.

Oklahoma went +5 combined on 13-14. Illinois is +1 so far. Let's hope they can do better.
Danger zone Jake is collapsing and Trey still can’t make a birdie. I’m still flabbergasted Mike didn’t get 1 transfer like he just got this past offseason. Relying on freshman even talented ones idk if that’s the move. We just saw the problems the bball team had doing that.
He is not. +5 over his last four holes. Illinois down to -2 on the day.
Jake having trouble on the back. Just lost three strokes to par. Now -2.
Unfortunately this didn't happen. I hope they contain the disaster for the last few holes.
Nice a birdie for Trey! Provides some help if Jake continues to slide and maybe gives him confidence to attack this par 5 18 and tomorrow.

15 seems to be playing not too bad, that hole killed Illinois as well as the doubles on the par 5s. Kept us from being sole second and right behind Oklahoma.
