Top 15 advance today. Top 8 advance tomorrow. We won’t get to tomorrow at this rate.

As a matter of self-interest...
I host a couple Optimist International Junior Golf Qualifiers, and
I would love to promote our beloved by sporting a National Champions shirt.

+9 on the last 5 holes, +23 overall, in 21st place now, with only about 6 holes left.
Cutoff for top-15 is estimated at +12, so things looking tough.
But I will remain Optimistic!
"It ain't over til the fat lady sings" right?!

Looking to next year, it looks like we lose Jackson but we gain a 5th year senior in Dane Huddleston from Utah Valley. So with Max Jr. Ryan Sr, Trey, Soph, Dane 5th year, Ethan Jr Jake Soph we will be better. Max and Ryan both need to take a step up to a leadership role. We will be more experienced as we had two Fr, two Soph a Jr and a Sr this season. Let’s learn from this and come back stronger next year.

We also add Dujuan Snyman from Australia (by way of South Africa). He's one of the top young amateurs down under.

I went to this last year and enjoyed myself. Glad I didn't go this year. Hope to be back next year

I was there today, drove down in the morning and caught up to the team at the 7th hole. The boys already looked defeated by then - I felt really bad for Jackson who probably didn't expect it to be his last day in O&B.

Enjoyed the course, very open and walkable, probably similar to a KFT event as far as crowds go. We worked our way towards the clubhouse, camped out on #16 (par 3) to watch everyone come through. Fun to follow Max's group as it contained Michael Le Sasso who is absolutely crushing it this weekend (currently at -11). Definitely will try to go back whenever we make the field, maybe even plan a weekend around it.

In the end Illinois will finish 18th, six strokes short of the cut. Rough showing for sure, but if 18th in the nation is a "down year" that's a good place to be. Max (+1) will play the final round as an individual.

Dane is the same age as Max - he will be a junior next year.

Congrats to Oklahoma State, who beat Virginia 4-1 in the final to win it's 12th national championship. Most impressive is they won with four sophomores and a freshman, meaning they will enter 2025-26 as the team to beat.

35th Thompson Cup today at Ridge CC:

Top CDGA senior amateurs defeated IPGA seniors 3-2.

Coach Small and partner won handily, 5&3.

Next outing for coach: most likely Steve Stricker's American Family, June 6-8, Madison.

Good for Max!
