Illini Golf 2025-2026

Great start to the season, especially bouncing back after a rough opening round. In the end we were closer to 1st place than 5th place.

I would think Jake is the long term favorite for the final roster spot assuming he returns to form, Freddie could definitely contend as well. Not sure if Dujuan is ready yet but that 66 on Saturday would've been nice to have! We will be the highest-ranked team in the next two tournaments, should be a good opportunity to experiment and see who steps up.

Freddie Turnell will be #5 player at Windon in Lake Forest tomorrow, according to Scoreboard. Dujuan Snyman will compete as an individual. Hang in there Ethan and everybody else.

having an open 5th spot is at times good for team morale in the sense that everybody always has something to play for. Ethan really struggled last weeka nd probably didn't shine in qualifying. Turnell looks to be the more solid bet right now.

A step down in comp for sure but a handful of top 30 teams with Northwestern/notre dame/smu and some big 10 comp also, we are the favorites no doubt but there are teams that could rise up and challenge for this no question.

Seems like the scoreboard changed a little, at least since I last saw it. Currently up 4 with one Notre Dame guy still out there. He still has a par 5 left in his final two holes so perhaps 3. Anyway you slice it this is a toss up for sure. 4 teams within 6 strokes, that is nothing in team golf. Gotta handle bizness today.

That being said Really good signs all around. All of the top 5 are playing well, even Snyman as an individual is playing well, worst play is a tie for 33. I feel our depth is gonna be the difference throughout the season and perhaps in this match. Curious to see if anybody gets blazing and makes a run at the individual. The kansas player at the top had a good freshman year at UC Riverside but is a transfer and has never shown this level of golf, so he is gonna be feeling it a bit today.

what i don't understand is who is he playing with, every other team is showing a Final on the day. there has to be other guys in his group.

I'm confused too. No info that I can find. ND golf site doesn't even have a recap of first day results.

Nice guy at Knollwood pro shop just said he had no idea why ND player is finishing second round by himself. "That's between Notre Dame and the player," he added. Mysterious.

that makes no sense.

are you there? is Knollwood pure? I have no knowledge of that course, but a Colt designed old school gem in the northern suburbs is certain to be sweet.

No, sorry, I called the pro shop. What a pain I can be, but my journalism training from way back compels me to ask questions.

I was inquisitive as a kid, but journalism school learned me to be more inquisitiver.

Freddie with a rough start, lets see if Dane can step in and keep that floor from dropping.

Nice win for the boys. The 1-4 is solidified and the 5th spot is still maybe? Up for grabs with tons of guys who have potential to be the guy there. Freddie looks good though

Our top 5 all finished in the top 15 individually, can't remember the last time that happened. I feel good about Freddie as our 5, though things could get interesting if/when Jake returns to form.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Stop the presses! Flash from Medinah and Illini Women's Invitational!

I was a spotter on ninth hole, Course #2, from 8:30a to 2:30p today. Rain/lightning ended my day.

(By the way, I said hello to Steve Stricker, whose daughter, Izzi, was playing for the Badgers.)

When I left, Illini were leading a fine field by two shots.

I have no idea now what the heck happened after I left because Scoreboard and Golfstat aren't reporting anything.

What the heck.

Geesh.

Go Illini!
