Illini Golf 2026-2027

Two massive changes to the college golf landscape will occur over the next year and a half:

1. Five-for-five being instituted for all NCAA sports, will give a fifth year to non-redshirt athletes.
2. PGA Tour is moving to a two-tier system in 2028, with smaller field and no sponsor exemptions for the top tier. Article

Very interested to see how the next few months go, and what the PGA U does in response to these changes. Plus I wonder how many seniors will go pro after this year (I'm guessing not many).

If I knew how to share/link/whatever, I would. But check out Illinois Open leaderboard at Illinois PGA website. Coach is even par; some Illini are shooting real low.

The courses are holding up pretty well, looks like even par will be enough to get into match play, +1 for the playoff. Hopefully Max can hang on (-2 thru 13) and Trey can post a red number in the afternoon.

Trey finished at +3, one stroke from qualifying for the next round.

As a fellow golfer, I'm sure he is kicking himself as you can always find one stroke
