That has to be a pretty satisfying feeling to win one of the tournaments so close to where you played your collegiate golf.

Random question - has TPC at Deere Run ever hosted the Big Ten golf championships? You'd think that a PGA course right in the middle of the conference footprint would be a pretty viable spot to hold an event like that. I'd say the same thing for the Waukonda Club in Des Moines, which hosts a PGA Champions Tour event (i.e. the Senior Tour) every year.

Besides Campbells win JB had a decent outing on the Americas tour. ILL

Wonderful. What a gentleman, so modest. No histrionics, no carrying on. I admire Brian.

No practice range while waiting for playoff. Smart move. Rest.

Will he be catching the Deere/Moline flight to Scotland? Hope so. And then The Open?

And all those University of Illinois and Mike Small mentions and ILL-INI chants. Can't hurt recruiting efforts. This is the greatest free publicity since Navin (Steve Martin) saw his name in the phone book in "The Jerk".

He and Detry are in the field for the Scottish Open and then I would assume for the Open.

Brian elected to relax and drink water while waiting for the final two groups to finish, rather than hit a few balls on the range. Said in the interview that he thought it made more sense to cool off and mentally prepare for the playoff (which was still an "if" until Lipsky's struggles). Great call - he looked so calm and confident during both shots.

I saw somewhere that they build the alternates list for the Open off of the world ranking, but the first 5 or 6 will get in right away to fill the field of 156. His win moved him to #55, which should be enough to get him into the field considering the Top 50 were already exempt.

Besides (likely) being in the Open, his win puts him into the:
- 2026 Masters
- 2026 PGA Championship
- 2026 Players Championship
- 2026 Sentry
He will also extend his winner's exemption one year (thru 2028) and has moved into #28 in the Fedex Cup, putting Brian in a great spot with the playoffs one month away.

This is what I also noticed. Behaving like he has been there before. And he was!!

Exactly what would Brain Campbell have done in 30 minutes or so on the practice range before the playoff? Practice putting, iron shots? Get outta here.

I am guessing it wouldn't make much sense financial wise. Not sure if the big ten pays the course for the weekend and you don't get much from smaller crowds for concessions and etc.
