Illini Hall of Fame: The Inaugural Class

How are people not complaining about Deon Thomas not being included?

Have they said how many they will actually induct? Is there a per-year limit? Grange and Butkus have to be shoe-ins. After that you can argue.

Does seem like your all time leading scorer should make it easily

The stars will be shining when the University of Illinois introduces its Inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2017 at the Hall of Fame Gala, presented by Deloitte and A&R Mechanical, in Chicago on June 23.

The Gala, hosted by NBC Sports personality Mike Tirico, will be held at the spectacular Stanley Hall of the Field Museum of Natural History (1400 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago) with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by the dinner and program at 7:30 p.m.

The Black-Tie (optional) event will celebrate the history of Fighting Illini Athletics and honor the Inaugural Hall of Fame class. Tickets for the event are $250 per person and can be purchased online HERE.

I'm wondering if some of the omissions are due to scheduling conflicts of those that are being honored or their families. That may be a factor for some.

Chicago? Isn't the Hall of Fame at the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign?

Leaving out Lou-Do is ridiculous.

Agree. Yep, and the Chicago location is to bring in the big money alum. Not only from Chicago, but easier for everyone to fly into Chicago as opposed to Champaign.

Plus aren't we Chicago's Big Ten Team??? :chief:

Just remember this is the inaugural class. They have to have a new class every year so makes sense to save some big names for later down the road. If they had all the best in the first batch it would get pretty boring in the coming years.

There will always be controversy of who gets in and when to halls of fame. But Lou needs in soon while he still has his health.

Let's not make him be Santo or Krause and get in posthumously.

BTW sure is good to see Deron playing so well for the Cavs!

Wow, that's a cool slo-mo vid! I didn't realize that cymbals flexed that much. :noidea:

Me neither. I go crazy when I hear a cymbal
And a hi hat with a souped up tempo

boy, I'm on a roll, it's time to go solo!
