The core of the anti-Ayo NBA case was that he was and is a much better player in stretched, chaotic situations than tight, structured ones.

You pictured him getting stymied in half court pick and roll after half court pick and roll as he sometimes did against really good college defending.

But his ability to generate those stretched chaotic situations at the pro level is just astonishing. He creates so much havoc, and once the floor is open, he'll kill you just like he did the Big Ten.

And forget the warm and fuzzy hometown story, he could not have landed in a better basketball environment than this. He embodies the direction Donovan wanted to go with this group.

When he got picked by the Bulls obviously the Chicago angle was there...but the glut of guards going into the season worried me as far as available minutes for Ayo but....Covid continued...injuries prevalent and Ayo is getting/having a condensed lesson
of the NBA he also seems to have a Sensei in Derozen...very good chemistry with this team so enjoyable this year.

Just another day in the office for Ayo

14 points, 10 assists, 3 steals, 4 rebounds, and his only turnover was holding the ball to a shot clock violation with 10 seconds to go in the game.
They should honestly not count those as turnovers- if baseball can not count steals for “fielders indifference” then the official scorer in basketball can certainly not count those end of game intentional shot clock violations

Rose also started 80 games that season.
Rose ended up with seven games with 10 or more assists in the regular season. Will be interesting to see if Ayo can catch him.

Can't wait to see how Ayo can shine in the playoffs. We will have to see how the Sixers and Nets will look after the big trade...but the Eastern Conference is completely up for grabs. You could make a case for at least 6+ teams making a run to the Finals.

Seems like most years only 2 or 3 teams have a real shot.
