Proof that NBA scouting still has a lot of holes in it. It's hard to account for a kid who has his head screwed on straight and loves the work.Ayo finishes this season with nice rankings on some leaderboards (all from Basketball Reference):

You did with the Magic City giveaway... until it was ripped away!
(I bought my hoodie on eBay Sunday morning)
Ayo is a player who always proves his doubters wrong. To be fair, not everyone is like him.Proof that NBA scouting still has a lot of holes in it. It's hard to account for a kid who has his head screwed on straight and loves the work.
Our coaching staff is clearly equipping these guys with the tools for long-term success.
If my math is correct, he was 4 made FTs away from being in the elite 50, 40, 90 club! C'mon, Ayo!Ayo finishes this season with nice rankings on some leaderboards (all from Basketball Reference):

Estimates I've seen say something like $17-25 million annually on a 3 or 4 year deal. Can't wait to see the massive bag this man receives and deserves.
Was thinking back in December he'd get around 3 yr - 55 mln type deal. Can't wait to see the massive bag this man receives and deserves.
His market could be pretty volatile and it also depends on how good of a team he wants to be on. Minnesota lacks the cap flexibility to give him what the market would bear elsewhere. Was thinking back in December he'd get around 3 yr - 55 mln type deal.
With the way hes playing and shooting the ball, I'd say now he's pretty comfortably in the 3 yr 80 mln/ 4 yr 100 mln type range.
Couldn't have happened to a better guy. Remember all of this started with Ayo!
For sure, I'm assuming with the glut of serviceable players Minnesota has that if he wants his absolute maximum contract value he'd have to leave for a different team. His market could be pretty volatile and it also depends on how good of a team he wants to be on. I want him to get the bag, personally.
Will’s footwork, cutting and decision-making are only getting better too. That was a great highlight reel.I tend to agree. Wagler's super-power is really his poise and decision making. (along with being a legit 3-point sniper) The speed and athleticism concerns are legitimate, but he uses his body really effectively to wall off defenders. As he gets stronger, he will continue to improve his ability to finish at the rim and defend. At minimum he will carve out a role as a facilitator and floor spacer, but if everything comes together, he could be a star. I wouldn't ever bet against him...
Will's length and athletic profile can't be taught. The game seems to be slowing down for him, he is a threat at all 3 levels, and his off-the dribble bag is special. The sky is the limit.
Will looking really good. However, the amount of carrying that is allowed these days is insane! 0:21 is a prime example and a few other plays to go along with it. NBA allows WAY too much slop these days IMO
Carrying simply isn't called at any level anymore. Tarris Reed literally carried everytime he put the ball on the floor. Will looking really good. That's all I could see when watching that clip as well. Will looking really good. However, the amount of carrying that is allowed these days is insane! 0:21 is a prime example and a few other plays to go along with it. NBA allows WAY too much slop these days IMO
Is he replacing the Luther Head, pay his way fund? Was thinking back in December he'd get around 3 yr - 55 mln type deal.

Amazing
Will's mom with a scrapbook lookback at his time as an Illini, complete with music!
Love how his career is progressing, looking like a steal for the Wizards at #21.
I love that! I'm glad Champaign and U of I seemed to have a good impression on her and him. There were a lot of articles in his short time here.

It really was. He was a bucket getter this year.

As one of the dying few who still get a newspaper delivered each day and have happy memories as a kid of getting up each morning to get the paper and look at MLB box scores among everything else in the sports section, this made me even happier. And then got to meet Will Riley's family in Milwaukee before he absolutely destroyed Sean Miller and Xavier in the tournament last year. Absolutely love this video.
