Illini in the Pros (Basketball)

IMO this was a bad shot by Randle. One more pass to TSJ and you chew more clock AND get a much better shot.

They got the REB with 8 seconds; big difference compared to if it were 4 or 5 seconds.
In general I find the whole "City Edition" alternate uniforms and courts stuff depressing and cringe, with the notable exception of the Spurs with the 90's color schtick, which is a 15 out of 10.

Yeah, for such an aggressive mix of colors, it actually works. It’s a fun court with a great vibe
I always thought, whoever did the Spurs branding in the late 80s and 90s had to have taken inspiration from old diners.

The colors actually come from San Antonio’s annual Fiesta San Antonio.

The Spurs do a near perfect job of incorporating those colors. I think it looks fantastic.

really goes to show that the NBA is all about getting an opportunity. TSJ has been wasting away on the bench all season for unknown reasons, then immediately inserted into the starting lineup and—surprise!—produces.

has to be incredibly frustrating as a player to know what you are capable of but have coaching cost you tens (hundreds?) of millions of dollars

If I were a longtime Timberwolves fan, I’d be pretty puzzled why Shannon rode so much pine this year (outside of injuries) and is suddenly a key, productive part of the rotation in the playoffs. I get Ayo and Divincenzo are out and that's a big part of it, but this is the 2nd year straight where Shannon has been HUGE for them in the playoffs. Something is off there.

The reasons aren't really unknown, they've been covered at length in this thread. It is tough for a guy who needs the ball in his hands to crack this Minnesota lineup when healthy, but the Wolves are looking pretty savvy to have grabbed depth at guard both in the draft and ahead of the trade deadline.

Ant averaging 35 mpg and TSJ averaging 13 mpg is not a coincidence. Not a natural duo on the floor, TSJ's skills overlap Ant's more than they complement him. TSJ did fine last night, but he was a -10, the lowest on the team.

Ayo is different.

Minny really wanted that other guard spot to be a true PG type, but Mike Conley is on the downslope and Bones Hyland just isn't that good.

I was thinking they looked more like Miami's alt uniform, but if that's the case, then it really is a brilliant stroke.
