Tough for Liddell and an unfortunate start to his NBA career.EJ Liddell goes down with a knee injury last night and getting an MRI today. Looked ACL-ish type injury but I hope it’s just a sprain and he’s not out too long.
Glad that the Bulls decided to keep Ayo out of the summer league. Magic appear to have shut down summer league Paulo too....
EJ is a great young man and has a wonderful family. His little brother Miles is a 2024 at Belleville West who is just starting to develop into a good player.Would have liked Liddell better as an Illini but still will root for him. Seems like a class guy.
You really hate to see it.Tough for Liddell and an unfortunate start to his NBA career.
Hill, Cole, Frazier and Meacham are probably my favorite Illini during Illinois' down years. I admire them greatly for their dedication to the program and university. Glad Hill is finding some success in the NBA, Meacham had his European dream and now does broadcasting, and Cole just being a regular, good guy from Peoria. Frazier is Frazier - just love the guy. I'd like to think being a college athlete does more of a good thing than a bad thing for those in the system, even if they don't become superstars.
Egwu never cheated us fans on one of the thousand high post screens..... Dude gave his all. Plus Nunn and that sweet sweet shooting stroke was a thing of beauty.. Eh, I'm not sure that the announcer didn't just make a mistake. I can't find news of Kofi signing a two-way contract anywhere.I just heard the announcers say that Kofi Cockburn was signed to a two-way contract with the Utah Jazz. Instead of an exhibit 10. Glad to hear that has changed.
I certainly hope it wasn't a mistake. Because they proceeded to talk about another player who was signed to an exhibit 10 contract and began to explain what it was. Utah signed Kofi to an Exhibit 10 deal, which can be converted into a two-way contract before the season starts. Maybe it's been converted..?Eh, I'm not sure that the announcer didn't just make a mistake. I can't find news of Kofi signing a two-way contract anywhere.

AwesomeKofi Cockburn signs two-way deal with Utah
Cockburn went undrafted after a successful collegiate career at Illinois. He averaged over 20 points and 10 rebounds with the Illini last year. He'll look to impress in the Summer League next month to start for Utah.www.fantasypros.com
Don't think it works that way anymore. I think he gets 1/2 the league minumum regardless of time allocation, but there is a maximum amount of time he can be with the NBA team, and he can't play in the playoffs unless his contract gets converted to a full time NBA deal before then. With kofi getting a two way... What time in the roster does he need to achieve to get minimum NBA salary or any type of guaranteed money?
Sorry to rain on the parade but the tweet cited as the source in this blurb here doesn't mention a 2-way contract and the article linked by the tweet specifically says Kofi signed an Exhibit 10 deal. And all of it is from June 24, right after the draft.Kofi Cockburn signs two-way deal with Utah

This is correct based on my limited Google-fuDon't think it works that way anymore. “NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players in their fourth NBA season or earlier are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons.” -as defined by NBA G League
...first and foremost two-way contracted players are limited to playing in 50 regular-season games and are prohibited from participating in the NBA Playoffs.
This article is from June 24th. How in the heck did all of us miss this announcement?Kofi Cockburn signs two-way deal with Utah

See my post above. It didn't happen. If you click on this link it cites a tweet that links an article which states that Kofi signed an Exhibit 10. Not a 2-way.This article is from June 24th. How in the heck did all of us miss this announcement?
Yea I see that too. The announcers on the game yesterday stated that he was signed to a two way yesterday. I was under the same understanding of an exhibit 10 deal. I thought maybe they were mistaken until they immediately spoke about another player immediately afterwards and said that he was signed to an exhibit 10 deal, and proceeded to discuss what an exhibit 10 was. So maybe things have changed and it was only spoken about yesterday during the broadcast. Or maybe they were just incorrect. I was just passing on what they announced yesterday. If true, then I'm happy for Kofi! If not true, then I'm still happy he is being given the opportunity and I believe he will get a two way.Sorry to rain on the parade but the tweet cited as the source in this blurb here doesn't mention a 2-way contract and the article linked by the tweet specifically says Kofi signed an Exhibit 10 deal. I've looked all over for a reputable source saying Kofi has signed a 2-way deal and haven't found one yet.
Edit to add, it also makes no sense for the Jazz to make any roster moves like this now as they are shopping Mitchell and other vets on their roster. They have no idea what their roster makeup will look like at this point and you'd think would wait for the dust to settle before making any kind of decision on Kofi and other summer league players.
Sounds like he hasn’t played the last 2 games.Malcolm with 18 pts, 6 rb, 2 steals, 2 assists Thurs night. Kofi DNP-Coaches decision last night. Jazz have their final game Sunday.
Kofi appeared to me to be the only player to not play?Sounds like he hasn’t played the last 2 games.

Every night can’t be Tacko night.According to this site, where I got the box scores from, he played 1, sat 1, played 1, sat 1. Quite a few on the DNP list, but other than him I didn’t pay attention to the names. Kofi and Tacko basically swapping which games they played.
