Whitman has to go big in this NIL era. You must get a proven coach who goes to the NCAA TOURNAMENT on a consistent basis. You can't mess this hire up. The softball team should be a perennial NCAA TOURNAMENT TEAM!!.

Might be hard to find, but there's a cute video of when she was an assistant at Ohio State and Whitman went into the batting cages to tell her she would be inducted into the Illini Hall of Fame.

Not much to like Perry...dismal statistics, and record. Our volleyball seems to be slippin too.....time for another move??

Guessing McMahon didn't have interest. I'm not sure Illinois can/will commit to softball to the level he would command. Illinois has more pressing needs.

Illinois really needs someone that can coach pitching - at a high level. I don't know who that would be or.....who would accept. The pitching and defense this year was brutal. Verdun was a fantastic pitcher at Coal City and DePud - high level D1. It didn't translate to coaching.

The Paulson's will be the Melinda Fisher/Kramos of Champaign - if that's desired.

The others names being thrown out - maybe better than this year but other than catching lightning with a pitcher, it should be considered a highly successful if they are challenging the mid-level B1G teams. A .500 B1G season in a very mediocre B1G, Whitman should probably do some cartwheels.

Super Regionals start tonight!!

Given Illinois hasn't named a softball HC yet, that may be great news. Unlike my last post, I'm now thinking perhaps the new HC is still coaching in the WCWS.

That would be very good news. Fingers crossed.
