Illini Softball 2026

Nothing wrong with the hire, I was just getting my hopes up for a "homerun" hire.

Think it was 808IlliniFan who mentioned Hall in an earlier thread. Spot on. Best of luck to her because she has her work cut out to build this into an acceptable program. The current team was not competitive, and I'd expect some of the players to leave after the coaching change. It seems late in the game to find new players to recruit but I admit I don't know the timelines for softball portal and other recruiting avenues.

And the odds are money goes to football, basketball, women's basketball, baseball, volleyball, then maybe softball.
Need a sugar daddy or momma to infuse some significant cash into the program. Don't think the facilities matter all that much. Financial backing to attract good players, followed by eventual decent success on the field and subsequent fan attendance will take us where we want to go. Onward and upward Illini!!

Texas Tech just spent 3.6 million in NIL money to get to the finals again in softball.

I wish Jenna good luck. She was always one of our favorite players while my daughter was playing SB. Watch a lot of her games. Illinois had a decent team back in early 2000s. If she can regain the great kids from Illinois and find a couple good pitchers from the portal or California she c will do alright. There is plenty of quality girls in Illinois, don't let them leave
