Actually, 4. Abrams, Thorne, Nichols and Black. :)

Ridiculous. I swear if we lose all 4...

Edit: We shouldn't lose all four. Assuming Black is not dismissed from the team (pretty big assumption), I would imagine his case is pretty much open and shut and will be granted a redshirt. If Abrams isn't granted a red shirt, I will be speechless. Like others, I doubt Thorne gets a 6th year. And really, I have no clue about Nichols.

Playing devil's advocate, are you sure? We still lost a fair amount of games with him including Chattanooga and North Florida.

Nunn didn't play in those games and it was guard play that hurt us in those games.

Does anybody know of a similiar case to Thorne's, a grad transfer who gets injured? Like I said before this will make the NCAA look pretty bad considering they are looking bad in football regarding injuries/concussions. Allowing Thorne the additional year will likely allow him to earn his Master's in Education and build on his ability to play ball pro somewhere.

I understand that. If we are presenting this case to the NCAA in regards to the last portion of the statement which questions whether or not a player gives the school a competitive advantage, an argument can be made to suggest that Thorne would not. I'm making the argument in regards to one poster's response that Thorne absolutely would and therefore, Thorne would not be granted the waiver. If the NCAA took this position, Illinois could formulate an argument to the contrary and use the end results as evidence.
