Interesting...do we have enough depth in the track events to justify this?
No, we won't score any points at the national level in track events. Our strength is in the field events. We placed 8th at the indoor nationals last year without scoring any points on the track. We'll likely do well again this year, but we won't be able to stick with Oregon and their Nike money.

Having a good day, so far, today. 15 points in the long jump, 16 in the high jump and 19 in the weight throw. Probably lost first place yesterday in the heptathlon. Should have had another 10 points. or so. but three of our girls (Kienast, Wullschleger and Blazevica) had no mark in the long jump. They are all capable of earning a podium spot.

Other than Beckmon in the 60, the Women have no shot at points today. Hard to win a championship when you can't score on the track

It's go be close. Illinois still has 200m, 3000mile and 4x4 400 m. Oregon has a runner in 3 events as well, so it will come down between 1-5 points between Illinois and Oregon. If the woman shot putter would have came in the Top 3 then the women's team would have pretty much clinched the team title but she came in 9th with 0 points.

Somebody check my work, but with only two competitors left, Oregon cannot catch us even if they both win their events (one in the 3000m and one in the 60m hurdles). Hope I didn't screw that up. I can only find one Oregon runner left to race in the 3000m finals.

Looking at the scores right now....with 4 events to go we are up by 12 points and I'm not sure Oregon (or USC or Nebraska) have enough qualifiers in the finals to catch us
