Illini Volleyball 2025-2026

Tamas should I have been gone. He just doesn't recruit at the level as Hambly. If volleyball really mattered at Illinois he should be fired but then again Illinois hasn't won a conference title since 1992!! 33YEARS!!
Yikes! That is a long time.

South Dakota State is legit good. But it is still gonna be a l-o-n-g season for the Illini VB team.
Ehhh, I wasn't too impressed by either team. And the team he inherited from Hambly was led by Jordyn Poulter - that was her team. Are you by chance related to Tamas??😉
We'll see what they look like against Vanderbilt, it's on SECN, ESPN app.

WTG ladies. Adapted great after dropping the first. Block came alive. Gotta like that our best contributions were not from our veterans. Aguayo seems crafty. Cross cut shots and well placed deep shots. De Boer had everything going. Tomkinson looked good. Phelan looked good today. Verdict out if better than Mosher. And Vivian Campbell looked good. And Tamas never ever wins a challenge that close on a ball ruled in, but did.

Was really surprised to see her setting for Pitt. Thought announcer said that she transferred in the middle of the summer, anyone know the story there?
Mosher left by mutual agreement, reports on another website were she was a difficult teammate. Although she finished the semester at Illinois she committed to Pitt as soon as the transfer portal opened. Laynie Smith left because she was homesick. Smith’s replacement, Auburn Tomkinson, is a 6’5” lefty transfer from Texas, and appears to be an upgrade. Phelan, the setter who is a transfer from Florida, appears to be a shorter version of Mosher. Good athlete, similar setting styles, similar problems with location, although it is probably too early to hang that on her. Like Mosher, Phelan also has a wicked topspin serve that goes long way too often.

Fun one at ND. Took the 2nd, 4th, & 5th. ND star set their kills record, but I think it tuckered her out to our advantage. Philpot awesome early on the fast sets to the middle. Think she got to 11 kills before an error. Great job of Phelan spreading it around. And Avery Hernandez, in limited minutes, looked a little like Jacquline Quade with some clutch back row kills. Also, strange substitution line up late in the 3rd seemed to be the momentum swing we needed. Going to get some groans, but have to give the coaching staff kudos.

I finally got around to watching the ND-Illini match and it was a great comeback road kill win by the Illini......the tide finally turned our way winning the last 2 sets for the victory..........ND was basically a one woman team on kills with a new record set for kills in a match for the new rally era , while the Illini won with a very balanced group of women getting double digit kills.......

very exciting match and so happy we hung in for the win on the road......seems like we had a strong representation of fans there with the volume of cheering for us at a very impressive level.........great job Illini..........

I'm very much looking forward to our match today against # 4 ranked Louisville..........I have a hatred for anything Louisville as that is where my 1969 Camaro Indy Pace ragtop car was stolen......it still hurts when I think about it.....it really really does...........

National runner up #3 Loiusville added Purdue‘s Chloe Chocoine. At least we won’t see her again with Purdue.
We looked very competitive. Excited to see how the rest of the season goes. Great out of time outs. Again, balanced attack.
