Indiana, Wisc, Purdue, and USC all swept their first round matchups (Badgers destroyed Eastern Ill).
UCLA won in 5 sets vs Georgia Tech. Bruins got .556 hitting on 22 kills from their middle!

The Big Ten Conference and Southeastern Conference (SEC) have announced a partnership for Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge Week in early September. The Illini open the series at Tennessee on Tuesday, September 1st. The last 2 matches are part of a double-header at Wrigley Field on Sunday, September 6th.

Is this a function of having to pick one of women's hoops or volleyball to support fully? I can't understand this unless they just like a caretaker who is reliably mediocre+

Whitman gave an interview a little while ago where he spoke pretty honestly about volleyball and other nonrevenue sports. We're not dealing with unlimited resources. After football and men's hoops, women's hoops is now a solid #3 here, which historically wasn't always the case. Among the rest, the programs that compete for national championships (men's golf, women's track) probably punch a little above their weight. We're not investing in volleyballl like powerhouses such as Nebraska, Penn State, Wisconsin and Minnesota, who all draw way more than us. Of course, we want to win everything every year and there is room for Tamas to improve, but given the relative resources we put in the program, we're not really underachieiving.

We're not Rutgers, with a 16-207 (.073) all-time B1G record.
